So I start class with American Eagle on Monday and I haven't been able to decide what aircraft to take if I have the pick of the litter. I sincerely want to avoid the ATR obviously, but I have even feelings towards the CRJ and ERJ.
I want to be NY based so LGA or JFK works well. Any suggestions from those out there more experienced than I am? Which plane will I sit reserve on the shortest? Are the upgrade possibilities better for either plane?
Thanks!

The CRJ is a much nicer aircraft then them old Em-brah-airs. The ERJ cockpit is loud. Very loud. You will need over-the-ear headphones to drown out the wind noise at cruise. That being said, I still love my Jungle Jet. Really though, if you are motivated by the base, pick the aircraft that'll get you there the fastest seniority-wise.

I sincerely hope your class gets nothing but ATR slots and you get stuck in it. I mean, since it's a turboprop you'll never move on or anything, since it's not a real plane.
I also like that you're already listing yourself as "Position: Eagle FO". Good luck in training.

If u want nyc then pick emj. Its in both bases (crj is only lga) and is the largest equipment group at the airline (options in terms out of base open time, large variety of flying). The problem with emj is that when your on rsv the company can send you to pretty much any base to fly a trip.

I was asked once if I had the choice of ERJ or ATR which I would go with. I went with ERJ (as I did when I started here) and was immediately met with "Oh, you just have shiny jet syndrome."
Perhaps.
But I like to call it more shiny-dollar syndrome since the jet pays more. Or shiny-the-jet-is-in-my-base-and-I-heard-quality-of-life-is-better-than-commuting.
But hey, I hear the ATR is REALLY an airplane and you get to do some COOL approaches in it. I'll enjoy the extra time home with my family, better pay, and avoid the hassle of commuting. If thats SJS, I'll be out polishing the leading edge next preflight.
