Current 9L/XJ Saab Guys
#12
Wow, I don't even know where to start. Pen Air doesn't owe you (or any other 9L/XJ pilot, assuming you are one) a single thing. They're offering a job in the left seat to qualified pilots that they like. You're currently worth nothing to the airline industry. You are a redundant resource. Being offered any job is a good thing, getting preferential treatment is a great thing.
If this helps even one pilot, its a good thing. People with your attitude ruin good deals like this for everyone.

They were offering this job BEFORE the bankruptcy. If people went from 9L to Penair before the bankruptcy they be taking a PAYCUT!!!!

Hey guys just and update!!
As you can imagine I've gotten a ton of PMs, Texts, emails and calls over the last 2 days. As of now it looks like there is no more room on the PenAir life raft, sorry . However this may actually work out a little better. They are considering another class in a few months that I'm hoping can be filled with all 9L/XJ/9E guys. This may work time wise for some of you facing a potential furlough. So if you are interested PM me for my email address and GET ME A RESUME ASAP! I'm starting to put together a serious pool of guys for the next class.
The timing on this thing really sucks. If this BK announcement happened earlier we would have been able to find home for so many more guys. Because of the lack of initial interest they needed to fill classes and hired a bunch of lower time FO to fill slots that could have easily been given to furloughed Pinnacolaba pilots.

This is the same friend of mine who did not get the job at Eagle who subsequently sent those from his interview home from class. He was also waiting to build up a few more hours of multi to apply to Colgan.
Thanks for posting this opportunity Al.

Honestly they have a weird way of calculating salary but in the end on the captain side everyone saw a slight increase. On the FO side the pay is a lot better. Some FOs that had 3-4 years at 9L are gonna see 45K a year.
Im sure there are going to be challenges there and it won't be perfect but for the right people it's a home run. Myself included.

We knew we were headed for bankruptcy. It turned out to be more drastic than I thought, too (Qs going away,) but we knew it was happening. I'm just saying, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. You can comparison shop your current job that's about to go away against a lesser job, but at the end of the day, which one survived? If I wasn't married with a house, I'd have gone to PenAir in a heartbeat over riding this sinking ship to the bottom of the sea.

Al... Just gotta say... You da man!
It's awesome when a fellow pilot steps up to help his present/former colleagues that are getting/about to get screwed.
I'll be taking a huge pay cut in the coming months, but I'll still have a job. The same cant be said for a lot of my friends here.. All 2900 of us.
