Ok The truth about Riddle guys
#11
I've met 9 ERAU guys since I started flying. 2 were CFI's at my local school, and 7 were pilots for regionals. Out of all 9,only 2 was worth talking to. Those 2 being the CFI's.... The 7 pilots working regional..... 5 at MESA, 1 at GOJET and 1 at PINNACLE.

I wanted to go to Riddle but the price tag was ridiculus. I had a riddler in my class and he is about 85k in debt. Me, I just went to a crappy FBO and only have a great job and no debt to show for it.

I don't know for a fact....but with all the ERAU grads in the world....im sure some are at about every airline that operates in the US....as far as low time ERAU guys at GoJet....the majority of the GoJet guys are guys from TWA, Eagle, ASA, Comair, Chicago Express, as well as about twenty from TSA. We also have a lot of Corporate and 135 frieght guys.......if you have seen most of the GJ pilots....they are typically guys in their thirties with a lot of experience.

I have to give an insider's perspective here. It's true, there are some arrogant and crappy pilots at Riddle - but please don't stereotype the rest of us just because of a few bad apples. There are many more great people at ERAU who aren't arrogant, rich snobs. I have met plenty of people here who are true professionals and great people. You can find arrogant and bad pilots at any aviation school, not just Riddle.
Now for the issue of cost. I admit.... if I could do it all over again I would go somewhere less expensive. Does that mean that I regret choosing ERAU? No - but I am saying that now I understand you can get a good education in aviation, and not pay out the nose for it.
I am not a rich snob with mommy and daddy paying the bills. I paid for my private ticket by cleaning horse stalls on a farm back home. I am paying for my education now. And I will pay it off by myself in the future. I am willing to work hard and pay my dues rather than jumping at the first regional that will hire me. I have no delusions about being God's gift to aviation.
Please don't stereotype! If you have a problem with some Riddle people you've met, I understand and can sympathize. But keep in mind.... that doesn't mean that the rest of us are like that!

Ok I am sure I will get some flack for this but here it goes! Most, and I say most Riddle guys are arrogant poorly skilled pilots. The majority think they are God's gift to aviation because they spent $30,000 a year on an education that taught them the same thing your local FBO could have for a fraction of the price. The reason they are willing to pay this much, is probably the same reason they take jobs at places like MESA & GOJETS, Mommy and Daddy pay their bills so their little boy can tool around in a 50 pax jet, but hey he's an Airline pilot. Like I said I know a few that are cool cool, humble guys, but unfortunately for them, most are not.
For a newbie you sure spout off a lot on this forum like the expert. Maybe it is you that is the windbag, because you sure sound like it to me. The subject of where anyone went to school rarely comes up in the cockpit, but I have had FO's that decided to insult the infamous "Riddle Grad" only to find out later that I was one. Talk about turning red, especially since the one I almost had to send back to training he was so bad. Oh well, he talked a good game. Not the best way for a probationary FO to start his first four day off IOE, by personally insulting the Captain.
