a 360 is not necessarily the smartest thing, but guys what im saying is if youre an airline pilot, you have the skill and are fully able to fly an airplane with an engine out. The airplane is MORE than capable of doing it, and the stuff they make those airplanes go through to get FAA certification is downright scary. But if you can circle from an instrument approach, you can do a 360 on final. Yes it is not smart and the box pattern is a better idea sure, but what if they had gone around the box pattern, took a flock of birds in their remaining engine, and had to crash land in a farmers field?

Then afterwards everyone would have blamed them for not just landing the airplane when they had a chance. Flying is not running checklists, its also about the balance of common sense and properly weighing the risks around you. A lot of pilots make decisions they will be critiscized for, its a learning experience and it better prepares you for future situations. Keep an open mind and know your own personal limitations and know the limitations of the airplane.
