I agree with Cal Capt. If you start the approach and then figure out you're not finished then climb, limit bank, and ask for vectors to a safe holding area. Don’t do anything until you SAFE, DO NOT DO 360's ON FINAL. You have plenty of time and power (with the operating engine). The only thing limiting your time is fuel and use as much of it as possible. Remember to exhaust every resource and double check each other before you start the landing phase, it's too CRITICAL!!!

While I agree a 360 seems an unusual choice, but we other pilots should be cautious about second guessing each other in a public forum. No need to give anyone else ammunition to take one of our bretheren down. The crew made a choice. We should give them the benefit of the doubt that they did what they thought was best. Since we have not heard of an accident, presumably they made an satisfactory (if not the best) decision.

We can debate it here, all safe on the ground, in the comfort of our homes, after the fact. Maybe it was a simple thing they tripped up on, maybe something else. When the flashy trucks come out, it's hard to know what's going on up there, SOP or not.
My turn comes, I hope I have all the time in the world, and fly textbook procedures. There was a time when I didn't (have time), and had to get creative. As is now, there were lots of questions. When the dust settled, it all made sense to everyone.

Chautauqua is quickly becoming "the new Mesa", so it only makes sense that they'd make the same kinds of stupid decisions. We've watched Mesa make ridiculously stupid decisions in and around CLT for the last three years! To the point where some senior guys refused to even DH on 'em.

You must be a Mesa or Chautauqua b*tch yourself, huh? Haha...nothing "official" needs to be posted to talk sh*t about either of them. If you're in the industry and you don't 'get it' when it comes to bashing either contractor, you've gotta be one of them. Tell me I'm right. Regardless, quit cryin'.
