if you lost an engine in a 145 just after rotation, you call departure, they send you back to tower.... you preceed on the extended downwind in severe clear VFR to run your QRH procedures. you then say you're finished and then reqest clearence to land. pretty standard right?
question is... would you decide after a base to final turn that you need to run more checklist, and ask the tower for a 360 right here to finish up...keep in mind you're in a single engine jet at 800-1000 agl, with a load of ppl in the back.

Nah, I'd ask for another turn around the patch & fly the whole pattern again. Why rush things? Last thing I want to do it to try and multi-task in an airplane with a broken engine, lots of gas, and not a ton of altitude. Lets do the QRH while straight & level, OK?

depends on your experience in the airplane. if you have a highly experienced and proficient crew that has dealt with an engine failure before and knows how the airplane will perform, i see no problem with the 360. its all about knowing your personal limits. If ive only been in the airplane for a few months, yea definitly slow things down, but if youre extremely familiar then its a different story.
in the military our checkrides usually involve an instrument approach with a circle to land in the sim with an engine out, which i would say is a much more dangerous maneuver than a 360 on final. Do airlines train this way in the sim?

Why complicate things with a 360? I'd fly the pattern again and do the checklists required and land...
All things being equal - it seems doing a 360 is a complication. If all it does is buy time - an unnecessary one.
