I think I have one that hasn't been said.

I was talking with our receptionist about what happens if you fly too low to the ground. She asked me if there were police flying around that could pull you over. She was serious. So I asked her how they would pull us over. She said they could pull up next to you and tell you to land.

Also, my uncle asked me if I was "flying commercial yet? I told him I was still flight instructing but I hoped to be flying for an airline soon. He says "don't you have to fly the lear jets first?"

When I was trying to figure out which regional to go to when I was a CFI my mom said, "why don't you just go to Southwest or American?"

You should've seen the look of fear on my mom's face when I told her what a first year FO makes. She thought I was either going to have to live in a cardboard box or move back home...

(I chose the box)

Got an interview call the other day. My mom says, "They make you fly with a real pilot before you get to fly it right?" I was devistated...

After 9 years still get this one, "So when can you take people up with you? Well I teach other people how to fly now. Oh okay, so when will you get to take other people up with you?"

When asked "are you old enough to fly this thing?" Reply: "No mam, but today's bring your kid to work day...dad says it's real hard to land, but I'm gonna show him!"

Passenger asked me how we were able to land on foggy days..did we have some kind of special glasses?
This didn`t happen to me, but a stew told me that as she was deadheading home (don`t know where this took place, but it sounds like New York), a passenger in front of her was raising a stink and said, quote " I paid for a seat, and I am not going to stand up for three hours"...The stew informed her that she was in the jetway, not the plane.

I can't take credit for the reply since it was my FO at my previous job in the CRJ. But I think he did a great job handling it. We're in Montreal boarding up when a pax makes a comment, "this plane sure is small, how safe is it?" And my FO says, "well mam there isn't much more we can do, it's the biggest airplane your country makes."
