The "Outside" View of Pilots
#61
I think I've posted this on another thread, but it fits here. I was riding in the van to the hotel from the training center as a new hire. We had flight attendants in the van too. We got to talking. They asked us how long pilot training was. We said six weeks. They said flight attendant training was four weeks. She thought for a minute and replied, "You mean for two weeks more we could have been pilots?" We pilots had a good laugh.

I am like dude where have you been for the past 2 years have yo unot been paying attention to anything I have been saying? Or they are like so dude 747's now? I am so heart broken to tell them its only a 50 pax jet. But hey it was worse when they found out I flew Turbo-props

I know and respect the fact that the general public does not have the knowledge about aviation. They are simply not exposed to it.
When people ask me "Are you ever going to be a Commercial Pilot", I want to say:
"Nah, I don't want to surrender my ATP"
(kidding, I politely explain it to them as best as I can)
