They must be compromising safety for profit. Are you proud to work for an airline that does that, and a pilot group that allows it? Of course you are because you are better than regional pilots right? I don't post much on here but I can't stand the "I fly for a major so I'm better than you" type attitude I see all the time on here. We all start somewhere and work our way up. You are correct about bad apples in different pilot groups but we have all made mistakes flying and to generalize one group against another is ignorant. Mesaba never had a fatal accident. Did that make their HR better than Delta? Did that make their training better? I agree with you about the flow. If you want to get to a major do it on your own merit. Preferential interviews would be a nice gesture from our ALPA friends at the top and also from an airline that we are already carrying passengers for.
I was totally with you until you said "Mesaba".

Flying Delta pax is an unfortunate result of years of lack of scope awareness... that in itself in no way automatically means they deserve a job at mainline. Thankfully, that footprint is finally bring reduced with the new contract.
Given, you've been in the industry longer than I have, so you might know more people, but I'm willing to guess that your elite airline just as many loose cannons as anywhere else. In fact, the only real single and unique attribute I've noticed about DAL pilots compared to every other airline is that they somehow believe they are God's gift to the flight deck. And the vast majority of them seem to contain the idea that they are better than everybody else. If I were you, and I really feel that way about my passengers, I would stand outside of an airport with a big sign telling them about the loose cannons who are about to fly them to DAL's hub. And how DAL sales tickets to passengers who will fly on airlines that say Delta, but the pilots aren't.

Someone has a bit of a chip on his/her shoulder. Major pilots aren't better people, but simply more experienced pilots.

If you're a 900 captain, then you missed 2 hirings cycles because you are at least about where my seniority was. Something doesn't add up.

There are a couple guys that are strange on each fleet, out of 12000 pilots... after 6 years I can count on one hand guys I wouldn't be upset if I didn't fly with them again. At 9E... well, you know. You're there.

As far as the Gods gift to the cockpit, whatever. I dont see that at all. Almost everyone just comes to work, tries to have a good time and do their job right.

I am just saying that if Delta wants to make sure that their passengers are flown by their standard of pilot then why would they farm out the regional end of it to the lowest bidder? Sounds like profit over safety. Unless they realize that regional pilots can do the same job as major pilots only at a much smaller cost. You have CRJ payrates in your contract right? Delta owns CRJ's right? So why not have the say on who flies them?
