Pinnacle First Officer ATP Checkride Failures

Sure the Regs are the Regs and an ATP is an ATP, but what are we talking about here? The "letter of the law" or the "spirit of the law"?
Mooney wrote something about "convicing a naive flight department" somewhere to give a CL65 command job with just the ATP on the back of the ticket. In the real world this doesn't happen - without PIC time in type - insurance requirements to name a few. Convince the flight department? By pencil whipping the logbook maybe? I just don't understand how this is such a big deal.
Let the FAA and the airline issue the FO the ATP. I think it's great, but without the time, it's not worth the plastic it's printed on. What am I missing?

it is the letter of the law we have been talking about. it says you can PIC any 91 airplane that your certificate/type has on it. The spirit of the law says "we are doing this because congress made us and we know there is really no use for this outside 121 operations"

Anyone who wants to spend the time can set up a his own 135 company (I have a couple comrades who have). If said person is an ATP, he could be one of the pilots who flies a turbojet having ten or more seats. He wouldn't have to go convince anyone he was qualified: the FAA would already know. They issued the ATP and don't give 709 rides just because he wants to start a company.

I passed the ATP with Pinnacle. I felt I was treated very well during the warm up, oral, and ride. This is not meant to be a commentary on the original poster's situation, because maybe there was something going on a few months ago, or in a particular case. I really don't want to weigh in on that. My purpose is to ease the minds of anyone going through the process.
Read the company messages about the ATP on the company website, and make sure you have everything in order, and studied what they say to study. You will be fine! I will echo knowing limitations, even stuff that is not double boxed. I think any "complex" questions would be to test knowledge in a broader sense, i.e., scenarios and systems that interrelate with other systems, versus regurgitating rote knowledge. And that's a good thing.
Don't get bamboozled. Any questions, PM me, I will do my best to help you.

Why do you keep reappearing in pinnacle threads? If VX is the place to be, don't look back.

It appears that lacking in a sense of humor is where you're at...
