Sounds good.... thanks for the info......so any word on if they'll provide just like AA?

buddies8 04-13-2013 05:42 AM

but you pay for the ipad (not the company)

lakehouse 04-13-2013 06:32 AM

Rumor has it, once the ipad is fully approved, the company will require everyone to buy andmmaintain an ipad, but will give everyone xxx dollars.

buddies8 04-13-2013 06:41 AM

the xxx amount is the question. how much is xxx to be?

Who knows, I would guess 5-700ish. You have to buy the backup battery too. Not sure about the mount. I have seen refurbished ipad 2s going for about 250$

question was how much would the company probably chip in since they are getting the fuel savings.

WARich 04-13-2013 07:57 AM

Nothing against an iPad, I've seen UAL's setup pretty sweet......but you would think the company would provide them if they're required......oh well......I guess half a months pay.......hmmm

They aren't "required". So you don't have to buy it if you don't want to use it or if you like carrying 40lbs and doing revisions every week.

flysooner9 04-13-2013 09:46 AM

I bet it will be required once fully approved. They aren't going to keep paying for paper charts.

450knotOffice 04-13-2013 05:05 PM

Once "required", I'm sure AE will purchase the iPads, just like AA does now.

WARich 04-14-2013 10:51 AM

does most of the DFW EMB flying contain itself to south central us and mexico, or does it go north and east too?

With our bases now only being ORD, DFW, MIA and JFK/LGA, our entire route structure is connected. Which means GENERALLY you will do "turns" out of your base but often times connect to another base through an outstation - either during the day or through an overnight. For instance, In one day you may do something like DFW-XNA-ORD-DSM. Then for the next day or so you may do ORD flying, DH back to DFW, or connect back to the DFW system somehow.

I did a 4 day trip that left ORD leg 1 day 1 and didnt return till day 4 last leg. It actually is nice sometimes to get out of the same flying pattern, see a bit more of the country and do some overnights you don't do all the time. It's always nice when ORD is getting hammered with winter storms and deicing SNAFUs, to be enjoy 80 degree weather in JAX.

DCA, BNA and RDU often times act as mini hubs, meaning you might actually not go to a hub after an outstation. For instance, something like ORD-BNA-DCA-RDU.

WARich 04-14-2013 11:16 AM

Nice, I loved RONing at DCA.....do you guys stay down by King Street?

Never done the overnight there... Is King street a good/fun place to stay with lots of neat activities?

If so, no, we do not stay there.

WARich 04-14-2013 11:26 AM

lol.....yeah King Street is a great place in DT Alexandria.....

No Crystal City across from the Pentagon a couple blocks from the AF Memorial.

WARich 04-14-2013 05:05 PM

close....could be worse.....

lakehouse 04-14-2013 05:37 PM

It may have moved, but it was the Sheraton pentagon city, near the mall. The hotel had a shuttle that took you to the mall. The mall was on the subway line, so DC was an easy shot. Also tons to do around the mall. That is still one of my favorite overnights, but I have not seen it since I left NY, as that is the main source of the mini DCA hub flying.

lakehouse 04-14-2013 05:40 PM

Also Rich, a typical 4 day could be something like this, from the MIA system:

2pm MIA-CVG
CVG-ORD
ORD-CMI 10pm
9 hour overnight

7am CMI-ORD
ORD-DSM
DSM-ORD
3 hour sit
ORD-CMH 5pm
19 hour overnight

2pm CMH-JFK
4 hour sit
JFK-PIT 6pm
14 hour overnight

8 am PIT-MIA
MIA-EYW
EYW-MIA
3 hour sit
MIA-GGT
GGT-MIA 5pm
Customs.....

worth lets just say 21 hours block.

I just odd balled everything, and its not to be close to what things are, but its a good rough idea.

lakehouse 04-14-2013 05:46 PM

you could also do this:

8pm MIA-GNV
8 hr overnight

6amGNV-MIA
MIA-EYW
EYW-MIA
sit 4 hours
MIA-JAX 6pm
11 hour overnight

6am JAX-MIA
MIA-CLT 12Noon
16 hour overnight

550am CLT-MIA
MIA-NAS
NAS-MIA
sit 4 hours
mia-NAS
NAS-mia 7pm

worth 17hours.

PilotJ3 04-14-2013 06:17 PM

you could also do this:

8pm MIA-GNV
8 hr overnight

6amGNV-MIA
MIA-EYW
EYW-MIA
sit 4 hours
MIA-JAX 6pm
11 hour overnight

6am JAX-MIA
MIA-CLT 12Noon
16 hour overnight

550am CLT-MIA
MIA-NAS
NAS-MIA
sit 4 hours
mia-NAS
NAS-mia 7pm

worth 17hours.
Ok??? I'm trying to go to MIA, but with those squedules I might just stay in ORD. Lol!!!!!

4hr sits sucks man! I usually have not more than 2.5 in ORD.

I was just giving a ROUGH idea.

We have a ton of 3 hour sits in JFK though mid afternoon. Also many 3 hour sits because of customs after LRM, GGT etc.

ORD is another place I see long sits. They come and go each month, when they come they seem to come all over the bid packet. The best lines are normally when the lines are built around the airplanes, ie the crews follow the planes (either that or the lines are built so well, the planner uses it to plan out the planes).

Dont come to MIA though, my relative seniority is under enough assault.

Seriously though, wait till everything shuffles out. This is just my projection, but this time next year I think we will have CLT and most likely DCA as bases. I also think MESA and other usair carriers will have MIA NYC DFW LAX and ORD. The shuffle is coming, as they fit both airlines scopes, to the hub demands.

A CLT base would make my life so much easier. Please please let it happen.

American Eagle, "the brand" might have a base there. This doesn't mean L-Eagle will.
No future at L-Eagle.

Hahahahaha sorry dude, I'll take your line :P

If Douggy P is smart enought he will use the whole owned airlines (l-eagle, PSA and PDT) for most of the feed and fill the gaps with the others. He will have 317 airplanes to play with. (Not including he e-135s)

Its the one liners at the end, like NO FUTURE HERE. Noone knows that, except maybe Doug Parker.

Probably pretty cheap too... We'll be burning a lot less gas lol

RJ Pilot 04-15-2013 09:37 AM

BTW, where is the VAC/BID? Is it tied to the fleet plan?

astec 04-15-2013 09:41 AM

From what I had heard.. Mgmt told the union this week, and the union wanted an exact date so to shut them up, mgmt said the 14. The union over reacted and took it as for sure the 14.

RJ Pilot 04-15-2013 12:00 PM

Team Tony lied? How can that be possible? Their integrity, morals dictates they are incapable of such atrocity.

flysooner9 04-15-2013 12:17 PM

maybe they're just waiting to sure up the aircraft orders before sending out the bid.

This. If you don't know the plan, how on earth can you put out a meaningful bid? I'm sure mgt wants to put out the most accurate bod possible, and not issue another bid a couple months later. Oh wait...

Robsquatch 04-15-2013 12:56 PM

There is no plan. We are adrift in a sea of sorrows.

SkylineAviation 04-15-2013 04:08 PM

Sorry man... :( I was stating the new upgrades is a good thing.

Go to the EMJ, if you really want to stay in ORD. At the end you will have better options in the future in the EMJ.

I will go to MIA...yay!!!
