Remember mooney, sim check-airman, line-check airman, soon to be APD is worthless since your plane is small. It's all about the seats evidently. I guess he'd flip a lid if you were actually a 777 FO at purple. The fun part is he thinks he knows, but he goes with the gut (I guess first class meals make it bigger).

Neither of these prove "higher pilot skills" although I would favor the F16 pilot.
Modern airplanes and navaid technology do not develop "seat of the pants" pilot skills. After pilot training (T-37 / T-38) and C-141 flying I was an excellent " by the book " pilot. It wasn't until I flew UC-123s cross controlled up and down mountain sides in Vietnam (spraying at 100 feet ) that I really learned to fly airplanes.
FYI The Air Force Academy tracks graduate UPT/SUPT performance. The top performers are Cadet CFIGs from the academy soaring program.

As you can see, the best Academy pilots are the ones with a small moustache and are Maverick look-alikes. The bigger the moustache and Goose look-alikes, the lower their flying skills. It's all right there in the chart.

Nonsense. The CRJ has a sissy yoke whereas the Airbus has a sidestick, putting it on a higher pedestal next to the likes of F16 and the fly by wire system. It also depends which RJ you are coming off from. I went from a 50 seater RJ to a 149 seat Airbus, so my skills increased 3 times over as a better pilot. However, if one goes from a 76 seater CRJ-900 to the A320, his skills will increase 2 times. Reference the linear chart, it will make sense then.

The epaulettes are just a symbol to how good a pilot you have risen to.
Take ShyGuy for example. He wears 5 stripes on an airbus, when he upgrades he can turn them upside down to show his true superiority.

What if it is a cargo bird with no seats, additionally do upside down epaulettes give you any bonus points?
