Just curious.... why does CHQ/RAH have CMH, SDF, IND as bases.... don't they code share w/ United, USAIr, Delta? these bases have nothing in common with the parent airlines. I would have guessed the bases would have been in the parent airline hubs (ORD, ATL, PHL, etc) the way most other regionals are. (ACA had IAD, ORD, LGA, BOS (Delta)... XJT has CLE, IAH, EWR (UAL).. etc.) Never seen a regional airline with bases in cities that are not hubs.
Do these bases have some type of special shuttle service to the hubs?
thx

Some people have never worked outside of aviation and think its so much better working a 8-5 job. I had grossed $46,000 (credit 90h w per diem) for years with 17 days off as an FO. I feel we deserve more but it was livable. I was so bored with well over half of the month off I worked a part time job and made $60k my last 2 years before I upgraded. I would like to move on to a major someday but underpaid or not I can't think of another job outside of flying I would rather have that will give me 17 days off a month. I don't know much about CHQ but even some of the junior guys on the 170 are getting 15 or more days off. The contract is old and pay is below average but it's just a regional. Get your time and move on.

As to CHQ bases, the 145 has SDF, ORD, CLE, IND, CMH, and LGA. There have been a few new hires to get all of them in different classes, so it's the luck of the draw. But the most typical JR bases are CMH and SDF.
IND is the most senior and if you get in you'll be on RSV for a long time. RSV in SDF or CMH has been running less than 3-6 months. RSV is hell if you don't live in base, and still crap if you do; 3am-3pm RSV period, hour and a half call-out, you can be used up until midnight your last day, rendering your period uncommutable on both ends with 11 days off, all for 75 hours of guarantee and a 10 year-old contract with no chance of a new one any time soon.
I'd strongly encourage you to check out RAHContractNow.org and think really hard before coming here. I understand needing a job, but with others hiring I would go to a company that treats its employees with respect before coming here, if given the choice.
I can't wait to leave...

Thank those that severely undercut Comair, in exchange for the quick upgrade 10 years ago..... No matter what you have been told or think, The CHQ MEC introduced your current CBA as a way to upgrade quick. I had a friend(CHQ) calling me from the actual road show, and nearly telling me word for word what they were being sold on...
Of course he upgraded quick, got his time and was the first of our immediate group of friends to end up at a major... So it worked for him and I am happy for him. But the fact still remains you are working for the $$ you are making for one reason and one reason only..... The carrot a decade ago..
Hell, 10 years ago I made $42K as a 3-4 year FO at Comair.. Then again that was 10 years ago. You'd think the pay would be atleast slightly higher 10 years later

I spoke with someone about interviewing later in the summer. I want SDF as a base and was told that it shouldnt be a problem and would know at the interview.
Hopefully that wont be a problem for you and you will get a base tha you want.
I would interview and see what they say. You dont have anything to lose, right?
Good luck!

You should quit the job before you have it, as you suggest the rest of us do.

Actually because I dont believe it is as bad a people are making it out to be. Without data to back it all up, this is just opinion.
$36K is not good....and I know people on here are educated...so why would they stick with a bad situation (however, i dont know your other income sources)? Are you gambling?
Obviously flying is more important than money to you (as it is to me), so you are doing something that you love to do.......reference my previous post....and if you hate it so much, you can always quit.
(not trying to flame bait, but do you see my point? it is one way or the other....)

It is every bit as bad as people say. I am trying to get out, but without pic time (6 +years in the right seat) options are limited. I am not interested in going to the bottom of another regional, starting over as furlough fodder, and commuting....so I suffer through it until my escape plan works out. For someone who isn't here yet, others are hiring, others who don't have it as bad. Why the hello oils you come here!?
Oh, as of 3 days ago, our ASAP program is terminated....protection from the FAA, gone. Yeah, this place is jus peachy...come on over. If you do, I don't want to hear one, not ONE complaint for as long as you are here...if you know better, and chose to come here anyway, you are a fool and lose the right to *****.
