And the Winner is... SKW... (gets Ejets)

Now that a respectable regional will be hiring into it, Republic are going to have a hard time attracting new applicants. (Unless of course they modify their E175's to include a 3rd lav!)

But on the off chance you're serious....UAL is not going to give any flying to an "airline" which does not possess an operating cert and has never flown a single RPM

Totally serious question...are new hires really so attracted to the E-175 over CRJs that they would base their employer preference on that? It's just a 70-ish seat RJ, it doesn't pay better than similar CRJs.
From a business perspective, it's a much nicer plane for the pax, but that has nothing to do with the pilots.

Yes, they're out there. I remember back around 2005, guys didn't want to go to Colgan or Mesa because they flew turbo props. Now its the 50 seat jet thats frowned upon. I have heard stories from friends at RAH that new hires have rejected class offeres for the ERJ and Q400 becuase they want to fly the E175. Its the only reason they apply there. Its certainly not for the work rules.

Yeah I knew about SJS and turboprops, but never imagined that one RJ would be consider better than another RJ because of it's configuration. Wow...toolishness to new heights.

There will be hiring unless we make some deal to return 200's on a one-for-one or two-for-one basis...but I think that would have been part of the package deal and announced up front.
Since the e-jets will likely go to transitions vice new-hires, they will need to bring new-hires on to replace folks leaving the EMB/CRJ for the e-jet. That would probably need to start hiring this summer to get online by fall. But it also depends on how many e-jets we take early in 2014... if it's only a handful, with most to follow later in 2014, then SKW might not need to hire until they really ramp up (six month lead to allow for two training events).

better pay / better treatment of employees / better soft money.
