Go-Jet new hire info

Hey guy's, going to atlanta to the job fair on the 14th to interview. Any one out there that just interviewed willing to share in little info about the interview. Any tech questions, should I pull out my ATP test guides. How many folks are they looking to hire? Any replies would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

TBucket 09-04-2013 10:18 AM

They're the only airline to get an exemption to the "good moral character" part of the ATP requirements.

Why don't you try Eagle or XJT..?

Pilotguy143 09-04-2013 12:01 PM

20 a month is what they are advertising for "attrition"

Tell me about it.......

I would hope the Comair guys that sought refuge there are being snapped up by Delta.

I might have a slightest hint of respect for ALPA if they pushed for that.

After 1999, no comair pilots will see a Delta uniform..

Sorry

Highly doubt it . Upgrade list is like 35 to 40 deep I think . Unless new flying comes around . CQ is a thing of the past

Make sure everyone shows your support for PSA pilots in their upcoming vote on their concessionary contract. The TA bullet points are posted at www.stopthewhipsaw.com

They need to know this is not the time to lower the bar in this industry. We are not interns.

Sorry

It's the truth, and it's the crappy nature of this business.

After Comair's MEC chairman wrote that famous letter, all Comair pilots that were on the list were blacklisted, except for the legacies. A few folks that were hired (by Comair) later have been hired at DL, but there is great anger on the part of some DL pilots that persists to this day. Comair pilot = persona non grata.

For someone who cant get on with everyone. I have a class date with GoJet, and an interview with Republic. I know what everyone says on here I'm just looking for some honest feedback. If offers from both, what is the better choice? Thanks.

He was asking my honest opinion and I gave it. He doesn't have to listen to me.

Pilotguy143 09-17-2013 12:28 PM

Maybe he lives in a G7 base. Maybe he has the hours to upgrade. Lots of possibilities

workingforfree 09-17-2013 12:38 PM

Yeah, it's alright. Anyone who wants a regional job, G7 is just as good as the rest. Do not listen to any of the nay-sayers. It will not hurt your career in the slightest (this is a fact).

I know tons of people from various long upgrade regionals who went there right off the bat in 2005, and they are now at their dream carriers now (Delta, UPS, FedEX, United, etc)..... The last thing that is going to stop your career is Gojet. ....Go! All regionals will start upgrading faster... why not be at a smaller one so yours will be faster. Get your time, more on and stay focused, you'll do fine!

Good luck!

LBCliving30 09-17-2013 12:41 PM

Well I don't live in a base for either, but will move to the one I receive. Defiantly will take me 2 1/2 yrs to upgrade at G7 so my time isn't the issue. I just hear complaints about both but when it comes down to it I I'm done instructing and ready for my first job. So I'm asking a kind of what would you do in that scenario kind of question. Just want to get the answers this website should be here for...helpful. I'm a newbie and still learning all the politics in this game called the regionals, so please spare me that if you can. Thanks

2.5 years is nothing! and it will get faster with all airlines hiring.... they are going to gobble up G7 pilots and any other regional pilots. If you have an offer, take it and start moving forward.

Good luck, you'll be fine.

RgrMurdock 09-17-2013 02:50 PM

Every regional is hiring right now if I'm not mistaken. Why go to arguably the two worst regionals contract wise right now? Upgrades will be fast everywhere if you believe in this pilot shortage. As a percentage, just as many people will be leaving from any regional to move on to the majors. And if recession hits, age 70, multi pilots license, fuel spike, or terrorist attack happens, why take the chance of being stuck at a carrier with horrible QOL?

8hourrule 09-17-2013 03:01 PM

Go-Jet new hire info

I would not call 85hrs and 16 days off a bad QOL.

Are you on reserve? He will be.

If you are starting out in the industry plan on 5 to 8 year if it less great but it maybe longer. Wait for Sky West, Express Jet, Air Whisky, Maybe Eagle good contract but politics right now. Go to a Job Fair and see how professional the recruiters are.
