It also costs more to live in Alaska than to live in Kansas City or St. Louis.

Well, there are some good instructing jobs if you look hard enough. I was making in the mid 40's when I left instructing...almost RJ captain at many companies. If you counted my side money I picked up I could gross between 4 and 5k a month. Of course there is also the benifit of not wondering if you will be able to go home for the holidays. I could even get paid to go home if I took a a student and flew home. Ahh the good ole days

Where am I instructing? What the crap! I always read about guys taking pay cuts to start at a regional, but with my instructor pay I would get a raise even at Great Lakes! That's sad....

If you are looking for good CFI jobs check out this site

They update postings everyday. Some of them are pretty good.

I was making $10 an hour instructing. Now i am starting at ExpressJet and I'll be making more than twice as much and I get to fly that shiny jet. I'm not complaining

Never said anything about Express... Just comparing Dash-6 pay vs an RJ pay for the first 3 years

I'd be taking over 50% paycut to go there. But i'm still trying to do it.

If you want to make money instructing go to Pueblo Colorado and get 24.75 per hour from the airforce. I charge them $25 an hour here and bill from the moment I arrive at work till the moment I leave. Be it flying or ground or paperwork the clock is running like a regular workday. Except a 10hr workday because I do 5 hops a day. Or did until recently do to daylight savings.
