Yuup. I think they are trying to have a class of at least 16 every 2 weeks. Great company with lots of cash on hand. I wouldn't worry about the whole US Airways contract garbage. I'm sure more flying with come within the next 2 yrs.

We're seeing about a 50% washout rate. Study hard...its really not a tough training program.

Default Why the washout

What is causing the washout of these guys? Is it the ground/book portion or is it the sim?

50% That's the worst washout rate I have ever heard. Anything over 10% means the selection committee, or else the training department is not doing its job.

Do u work for us? Or any regional for that matter? Have u thought it could possibly be the clowns that are getting hired now bc of the new regs and lack of viable candidates? There are people here now that couldn't have sniffed a job a few years ago. I flew with someone not long ago that I had to take the plane from 2 legs in a row. According to him, he was the one who excelled in his new-hire group. Not much any hiring committee can do with peeps like that to choose from.

That's disturbing. Luckily the training department is still there as a layer of safety. Obviously going forward, anyone with the time will get the job at any regional they please. Hopefully the training departments won't be forced to conform when empty seats simply need butts in them. Having a lot of training issues at PSA as well btw.

So do you imply also the historical AWAC training failure rate was much lower, such as the minimal 10% achieved by better training and recruiting departments? I see some logic in your idea the quality of recruits correlates to success, no stretch there, but I definitely find it a stretch to think the ATP rule is causing a higher failure rate at AWAC by decreasing the quality of its applicant pool. Applicants all have more flying experience now, not less. Quite to the contrary I suspect AWAC is not taking enough time and effort to train its new recruits before showing them the door.

Most places are experiencing higher washout rates, probably at least 25% across the board.

Ok. So is time, effort and expense in training for new recruits seeing a 25% boost across the board as well? I doubt it. I also doubt they had a 90% pass rate before the ATP rule, but I admit I do not really know. Companies like this have historically skimmed the cream off the pilot crop, and are not used to having to work for decent pilot labor.
