So their plan is to just reduce regional flying instead of trying to attract new pilots? I wonder how long that's going to work before they can't fly most of the regional routes??

At least 9 of the the 34 are XJT 135, the other 25 145 are CHQ I believe

They have wanted to dump CLE for years. The rhetoric about the new regulations is their way of sending a message to Congress... read the words. They are not saying there are no pilots, they said the "pool of available pilots" so this is the second round of management trying to get the 1500 hr rule reduced to the level of pilots who are "available." They lost the first round to the 3407 families.

Kind of crazy though, how under the new system a 1500 hour pilot with 2 or 3 DUI apparently contributes more to increasing safety than a 500 hour pilot with a clean record. But, hey, I only work here.

Seriously??

Why would they need to be problem people? For some of us, those were competitive mins to get into regionals. Nothing wrong with spending some time CFI-ing and then flying for places like Ameriflight or Airnet before getting into regionals.

Delta did the same with MEM and CVG. Now they can blame it on new rules and staffing issues. Give it a couple years and CLE will probably be a ghost town.

I'm not sure CHQ has 25 E145's flying for United. The info I found is between 13 and 16 aircraft for UAX. So it might be our 135's and maybe some 145's that might come off that stack of 22 a year early? Or TSA? They have 28 flying for UAX.

All I know is, it will probably be quite a relief to maybe be properly staffed for once.

The plan from jumpstreet was to protect the legacy interests in which are big cities and international destinations! everyone else is thrown under the bus!

CHQ operates only 12 RJs for United.

I don't think us voting down the TA had anything to do with this. This was going to happen regardless and I am pretty sure our management was well aware of this. As far as the airframes, I believe you might see more come out of the XJT side than any other carrier. Either way it is what it is and something that is out of our realm of control. Hopefully there will be a new order of aircraft for mainline so a lot of us can get the heck out.

Good info, the 25 145s probably split between CHQ and XJT. I think the XJT aircraft might be returned before 3rd quarter. XJT will be in a full staffing meltdown by then.

CRJ side, which is the "well staffed" side, has started a vacation buyback program for March.
