No offense was taken...I thought I would just make a case for us guys out there that did go to these schools, but understand the hard work and determination it takes to make it in this industry. I agree with you on the whole CRJ 900 and Emb 170 thing ruining my chances to work for a major, so I still love ya and am thinking along the same wave length.:D

I live in South Florida and happen to know quite a few Gulfstreamers. Since September '06 I've known 6 people to leave for bigger and better companies. One guy is at Continental mainline, one guy at Airtran, three guys at Spirit, and one girl at UPS. These are just people I know...I'm sure many more have left as well. Seems like they are getting good jobs, instead of "going nowhere". Just an observation.

That may be. It still doesn't change the fact that a Gulfstreamer took a job from someone who would have otherwise been PAID to do the same job as that boob who paid Gulfstream for the pleasure.

They will INTERVIEW you at 850/100. They will not actually hire you until you have 1000/100.

I understand why they are doing this...they are losing good quality applicants who are getting jobs at 600 hours elsewhere. This way they can get them on the hook earlier. That last 150 hours would go by pretty quick if you know you have a job waiting.

So why would you want to pay huge amounts for a transition type course? Buy some ME time and start sending out resumes.

The problem with GIA is that you are paying to work a job. That takes jobs out of the available pool for people that deserve it.

Tell you what, pay me $30,000 and I'll give you 100 hours of ME time and you can be my personal assistant for the next 6 months.

Oh and lets not forget that fact that every person in the industry that finds out you paid to fly for GIA will hate your guts and make you miserable. Its just wrong and you know it is.

Hey, Ill pay you to have me teach you how to fly that twin....wait that doesnt make any logical sense now does it??

I've already answered this question. No. I don't get paid. However, as a self-proclaimed intelligent consumer I know a good deal when I see it...

99% of the folks I have met from GIA have been morons. They get in there with a CMEL and 250 hours and then go fly in mostly VFR conditions with a babysitter in an airplane that doesn't even really need them anyway. Then when it comes time to do some real flying or make some real decisions in the cockpit its like you just handed a monkey a rubric's cube. I've said it once and I'll say it again: the ONLY guy I have ever seen CRY in a sim session was from GULFSTREAM (and it was on a regular basis)!

I have limited experience with ATP, but I have to agree that if you're looking for a package-deal kind of place it seems decent (compared to the other big schools). They don't try to send non-cfi's to airlines, and they do not appear to try to rip you off in training.

My preference would still be a good mom & pop kind of place at the local patch...if one is available. You can meet all kinds of people at a place like that.
