PS - SORRY - I just checked the link and it looks like the WSJ wants some $$$ to view the article.
If you google the headline you can read the article from the search link.

If American does follow thru and shrink Envoy, I think they'll come to regret it. No other regional can staff the carrot jets that were dangled in front of Envoy. Even if AAG contracted with every regional in the US, they will still need the pilots on the Envoy list to staff the fleet size they're talking about.

Comair demonstrated that the regional pilot labor force is not a zero sum population. If a regional airline is parted out, a sizable portion of the pilots will refuse to start over at the bottom of a regional seniority list.

The only realistic way for AAG to shrink Envoy is to put the jets at mainline, and expand the flow from Envoy.

I think everyone is misinterpreting the OP. I think what he meant was:

As in he's trying to say AAG's intentions are to make people quit/fire people in order for them to just come back and fly their routes again anyways. Correct me if i'm wrong.

He was saying that they're shrinking assuming the pilots will go to other airlines. Was definitely not suggesting it. Maybe you should read his post 3 times before replying? Also please learn the use of there, their, and they're before calling somebody else stupid.

^^^^^^THIS!!

Please fellow Eaglers, do NOT go to the likes of PSA or Mesa. All you're doing is helping them add pilots to cover the cheaper flying awarded to them instead of us. If you must start over at another regional, go to one where their feed competes with AA...XJT for instance (even though they do a minimal amount of flying in DFW). I live in a PSA base but would gladly go back to instructing before helping out that operation fill seats.

Unity is truly important for industrywide issues, but there those of us having a hard time forgetting the bravado of [some] regional pilots parading their "guppy killer" flight bag decals through the terminal. That was less than 10 years ago, what changed?

Absolutely!

Yes, this! Don't feed this savage management team with more bodies. Envoy pilots took a stand, now we stand with them! Hell, I wanna apply to Envoy.

I’m going to respectfully correct you as to the Comair Pilots. As a former Comair pilot, I can attest that a large number of the pilots have had to seek employment at other regionals, at least for a short time to regain or to stay current. You are going to find if AAG places those aircraft at other regionals a large number of Eagle pilots will end up there. Think about it, if a midlevel FO from Eagle thinks they can go to a PSA and upgrade in 6 months to a year I submit to you they will do it. You’re kidding yourself if you think the 175’s are going to end up at mainline anytime soon.

Remember to read your contract.

We have about 2100 pilots that fall within the furlough protection clause of our contract. The shrinking will come from the top as long as the flow through continues. No need to jump ship to low paying regional. I dont see them furloughing as we continue to loose a minimum of 20 pilots a month of the top. If they need less pilots at AE they will stop the metering to AA and metering changes to 50% of the AA newhire class.
