Former FO, 3 OVI convictions...

I suppose that you can try all you want to get hired with three DWI's. I'd be willing to bet that the problem of three DWIs is not just a matter of bad luck. If one has had three DWIs inside of five years, then maybe the greater problem is not getting hired at a regional. So to use a trendy little phrase, "Just saying."

It's not gonna happen at mesa unless it was 5-10+ years ago and you got a waiver for canada. Facebiter is the number one mesa fanboy and will spread all the good cheer.
Yes they did hire a U.S. Citizen and former Iraqi Mig fighter pilot. Which personally could only add to a 4 day trip some kickin stories from a different perspective. Rather than some bitter bitter bitter b-tty boy telling me how he's smarter and obviously better than you and I.

I would say nothing is impossible.
Read "Flying Drunk", one of those guys got busted with an FWI and got his job back eventually.
5 years maybe too soon I'm not sure, but if ever there was a time it is now, in my opinion you would probably have to go above and beyond just completing a program and a year or so of sobriety. It would probably take some kind of leadership or volunteer work within the recovering population.

The biggest issue is getting clearance to get into Canada.
I think most regionals don't give a flying fig f you've got a DUI and can explain yourself- but since most fly internationally, that's where the problem lies.
As for "all you need to do is fog a mirror" LMAO. I interviewed at one of those so-called places and 2 out of 3 of us didn't get the job, despite the so-called "pilot shortage" and "desperation for pilots"

Don't even think about applying to a company that flies into Canada, they won't let you in the country with 3 DUI,s. If you have had any DUI's within 10 years you would havve to apply to Canada government for a waiver to allow you in, a costly and time consuming process. Good luck!
