Need to agree with Smitteyb, FirstClass and billyho both are only participating in this thread because they would benefit from an RAH demise.

Get lost.
How is that??? It's a fact that Republic has one of the worst contracts and pay and bennies isn't it? I could care less who's below me it's the people above that you worry about. Didn't you learn that already?? And with our flow I'm moving right up and right out very soon.

If you produce a hamburger so cheap sooner or later nobody is gonna want to eat it. That's what happened to Republic.

This is why we need a national seniority list so we don't have to start out at the bottom every time we change carriers.

Yep! Too bad you don't get paid according to experience you bring.

No need to repeal the law. In the text of the law, the FAA can make exemptions to get a restricted ATP down to 750 hours. All they have to do is revise the restricted ATP qualifications, for example come up with some advanced jet operations course that totally nixes the need for an aviation degree or military pilot training.

Then regionals can pay to send people tonthis course like they are doing with the ATP CTP training, and then there's a stream of 700 hour pilots...

I wonder what impact this will have on other investors in other airline stock. I wonder if they are considering the cost bennifit of raising pay and QOL vs the threat of a 50% investment loss due the lack of available crew.

The only other airline of similar size and structure is Skywest. Historically they have been a well managed and run company unlike RAH. RAH's issues have been very specific. I would guess there is no contagion.

after being in 2 prior.... Mesaba 2005, that was a complete sham, complete with a $.98 on the dollar claim payoff. Then there was the Pinnacle debacle, that was already on the horizon with Colgan's operations, and vastly accelerated with the loan shark purchase of Mesaba, followed by intentionally burning through more cash than celebrating the end of the war using hundreds to light cigars. Republic has been an ever growing disaster in progress since MidEx... They have gone from one of the strongest to probably the weakest regional. Even Mesa has it beat now. Republic can't staff any of it's operations consistently. Has had to park all the props. Can't find a newhire if it hit them in the head. And has no career progression (flow through) good luck finding any saps worth hiring at this point... tick, tock.... this place looks to be next to Comair in the graveyard faster than Pinnacle (Endeavor) now.

It's the parable of the boiled frog combined with a "too big to fail" mentality.
