I actually really enjoyed TYS. Reserve was easy out there since there isn't hot reserve and you can play the system based on knowing that 9 out of 10 times, you will just be Deadheading to CLT..Just know when those flights are and play the game..
However, since I lived in CLT, I request to sit in CLT throughout my entire reserve blocks each week. It worked perfectly. I literally only had to commute to TYS for 4 different 5-day reserve stents. It was great. They need you more in CLT than they do in TYS. I didn't notice where you said you lived, but if it's CLT, I bet you can play the system a bit. Just my 2 cents..

Just to tag on your TYS out of training thing - I was awarded TYS out of training last year. TYS was actually my last choice - CLT was my first as I live here in CLT...

Commuter hotels
Can anyone share some insight or DM me on where exactly do we send our hotel receipts so that we can be reimbursed? Who is the person of contact? Do we keep the receipt from the hotel? Do we scan it and email it to someone or fax it maybe? Do we have to call someone and tell them I'd like to use a commuter hotel? How long does it usually take company to reimburse you the hotel cost? A lot of questions. I apologize but a lot of guys know about the program but know little about how it exactly works and how to be reimbursed properly.
Thanks ahead of time.

That's a great answer to share. Simply from the way it is done. I see them advertise the commuter hotel reimbursement but I was wondering how it is done too.
Do you upload (or email) each receipt as they are spent?
Who keeps track of your allowance?
What happens if the hotel cost goes over by a few dollars (that gets back to who keeps track of the allowance).
Thanks!

You can send in your receipts to a designated email address any time during the month. All receipts must be submitted by the 9th of the following month. It's really up to you to keep track of how much you've spent. If all your receipts equal 250 or less then they'll cut you a check around the 20th of the following month for the actual amount you spent. If you spend over 250 they'll cut you a check for 250 and you're on the hook for anything you overspent. You can buy 1 night for 250 or 5 nights @ 50/each, it doesn't matter as long as each night touches a day of work (come in day before a trip, stay the night after finishing, or anything in the middle, such as a stretch of reserve days or staying the night between the 2 days of recurrent ground.)

It would be nice if they let commuters apply this towards a crash pad, is that possible?
