well it seems you really are going to be a lifer at skywest. i believe in coming together as pilots. thats why i do feel bad when we prosper as an airline, at the expense of asa and comair, etc. yes i know thats how the business world is and a lot of that is beyond our control. but what im asking you to do is to be CONSIDERATE about it. im not saying dont be excited about growth at skywest, im saying have a little understanding for fellow pilots. i dont really care if youre pro or anti union but at least realize what youre doing is pretty low. im assuming you only act like this on this board because if you dared do it around a bunch of other pilots youd be blacklisted pretty quickly. and why do you wanna see everyone else suffer?
comparing your w2 against other regionals means nothing. and comparing it agains Jetblue really means nothing. you need to spend more time in chicago or denver... get out of salt lake its really messing with your head

Is slaphappy from Mesa or Trans States? What crappy alpa carrier did you work for?
I know everyone likes to bash SkyWest around here, but I don't think the majority of people at SkyWest enjoy flying planes that were taken from ASA, Comair, etc. I know I don't want to because in five years, it could be us losing planes. Fortunately, we have a good product and our payscale allows us to be competitive for bidding. Everyone on here keeps talking about how our payscale is keeping the industry down. There is more to flying than just a payscale, which everyone keeps forgetting. I would much rather fly at SkyWest where the attitude is pretty good, although it seems to be lessening. If you fly or have flown where all everyone does is complain, it makes for a long four day trip. It also isn't very much fun to go fly, which I thought this is what the job is all about.
I am making as much money at SkyWest than at Trans States, where Trans States paid $2.25 more per hour.
I haven't heard anyone on here bashing US Airways pilots, they are going to be flying E190s for $95/hour at 16 year pay. SkyWest flies the 700/900 for $93/hour with the override at 16 year pay and RAH payscale for the E190 is $106/hour. So why aren't you guys going after US Airways pilots for keeping "us" down? And they are ALPA, so why don't they have a higher pay rate?

I will say this, I am proud to be part of Expressjet, as well as the Airline profession, I mean what other industry do so many people spend their time on forums, bashing other airlines, claiming their equipment is the best etc.............we are one of a kind thats for sure, We say our job is great because when we leave the airport were are done, but this job is more than a job its a lifestyle it affects everything we do, who we are etc....its really amazing if you think about it. I mean my g/f works in the Pharmaceutical field, sure there are egomaniacs in that industry too, but would she ever spend her time on an online forum? hello no. I on the other hand...............900 something posts later

I'm saying anyone with a profit margin incentive plan, decent pay, good work rules, happy employees, 6% 401k matching isn't going to be the reason the industry just falls through the floor. Skywest isn't the evil stepchild.
What does comair have to offer?

An industry leading contract BY FAR before their knees were kicked out from under them, by you guessed it, skywest.

Can you enlighten? When did this happen? Comair had a strike that grounded all flights for 3 months, had 3 aircraft go down(bad publicity), then canceled all flights on Christmas in '04(even more bad publicity). Then when Delta went down in bankruptcy they took Comair with them(wait more bad publicity). Comair had a rough run. They might have had nice looking payscales but come bankruptcy time things were changing. They wanted a paycut. The pilots voted for it and the FA's wouldn't. They took the FAs to court and the judge ruled in the FA's favor kind of tieing their hands. It wasn't till after that point that Delta awarded some of the flying to Skywest. Plus wasn't it actually Chattaqua who got the first flying?
