Your seat fill for your check ride is someone who knows what their doing ( most likely a sim instructor) and has been doing it for a few years and not someone nervous from your new hire class.

This is a good point. And while they can't explicitly tell you what to do, they can prompt you that something isn't right, or if you're forgetting something, maybe make some leading statements that should be a trigger in your mind.

That stuff doesn’t really matter. It’s still a pic type ride.
What matters is when your “Captain” is a FO seat fill that is doing the same stuff you are doing. Last job they flew 172’s and it’s their first jet and doesn’t call for positive rate on a go around. or they mess up reading the QRH and you fail your type ride. This is worst case scenario though.

My point is the same as yours; that you're going to have every chance to succeed and not be sabotaged by the person sitting next to you. And even beyond, that the person next to you might just be able to help save your behind.

Curious is all, had a recruit come by a little while ago and talk about the company. Long story short, some how we got in the conversation about logbooks and times being off.

Is it true that there’s someone in a back room adding up your time line by line making sure you have all your required time? God forbid someone shows up to indoc only to find out they’re 3.5 hours short on total time or something due to a miscalculation. Additionally, does the company keep your logbook times in a system or something during indoc? In an effort to see if a new hire was padding their logbook?

Funny enough, multiple recruiters brought something similar up. Just makes you feel like you’re guilty when you’re not. Think “cop driving behind you” type of feeling. You know you’re not guilty, but you still get nervous lol

At the interview they do a logbook review. First day of indoc they do a even closer logbook review. I’d think every company does this - not sure why this would be considered odd.

That’s normal, the odd part is that they seem like they audit line by line. “KXXX to KXXX - 1.7. But here it’s is again for 2.0. Why the extra 0.3? Hmmmm” That kind of scrutiny is what I’m talking about. That’s how it came off anyways so I was just curious is all

They may or may not. My logbook review was nothing more than a glance. Sounds like your friend has some skeletons in their closet and they decided to dig a little deeper. In any case if you are worried about an in depth logbook review because you falsified your records or were lazy and messy I suggest not applying here.

At my interview the logbook review was very cursory, quick glance really. On the first day of indoc, there was an instructor who came in and collected logbooks, he was auditing so there would be no surprises come oral/checkride time. They were making sure everyone had the time for their ATP ride, or close enough that they would get the last few hours in the sim before the ride. They didn't even take my logbook as I already had mine. (ATP that is)

Same here. In fact, I’m not even sure they have ever looked at my logbooks, since I did a Skype interview, and already had my ATP for indoc
