And I say this as someone who happily wore slacks during all of training.

Who cares? These people have something you want. You give them what they want so that they give you what you want. Not difficult

That's a total strawman. It literally has nothing to do with the actual point that I'm making.

Once again, I did it because it's what's expected. I had no problem wearing them, nor do I have a problem wearing them on a jumpseat.

That doesn't preclude the notion that requiring a level of dress that is both outdated and completely irrelevant to performing a function is archaic, unnecessary, and serves no purpose. It's done entirely because that's the way it's been done in the past, and it hearkens back to an era where the clothing people wore was far less casual in general.

It is your choice to choose to fight it or not, and it is my choice to not agree with it and do my part to change the paradigm when and where I can (e.g. allowing more casual dress on my jumpseat when I upgrade).

Beyond this thread, it doesn't consume any of my mental energy. I disagree with the premise, and that's about it. When I travel, I wear appropriate dress in case I should wind up needing to sit on a jumpseat, and don't give it a second thought.

Jumpseat is taken care of... now you'll have to wear your uniform.

That's not bad. I was afraid of a delay. Interviewing in a few weeks and I'm 100hrs short of mins so didn't want to wait too long.

The word we got from the training dept a few weeks ago is that they have had some washouts recently from people rushing ahead and “cramming” rather than working through the materials at the same pace as everyone else (and as directed). They try to get a head start and end up not absorbing the information. Completely the opposite work habit issue I would have assumed causes washouts!
