Technically exempt from that as long as the David Clark's are in the plane. They meet the TSO requirement. This has been discussed a few times on the face page.

Absolutely LOVE not having to deal with batteries. However, if you do have to use any type of adapter vs. plugging straight into the XLR, you won’t be able to use ship power.
I wonder if something like this (https://www.sportys.com/pilotshop/le...s-adapter.html) would work and still not need the batteries for something like light speeds that don’t have the xlr (airbus) option.

That exactly my question. IOE soon and haven’t tested the theory and hoping someone else has...

How does it work with the a20s? You just take the batteries out of the volume control piece and it should power the headset all on its own? I got the 5 pin recently and have been using it this trip but the noise canceling/Bluetooth won’t work unless I have the batteries in.

The headset should be powered without the batteries being in it, if you're using the XLR plug without an adapter. If not, you must have found the only airplane in the fleet that has a broken jack.

Are you sure we purchased the option to power the plug? You know that it works?

If by this you mean did the company attach power to the 5 pin? Yes, I have this set up in Bose Pro Flights and have yet to run into an aircraft whose plug didn't power the headset. I don't have batteries in the console, it all works fine.

That’s awesome. Thanks for that.

I have ioe soon, but mine didn’t work to pull power from the jumpseat plug so was concerned...

I've never tried the 5 pin in a jump seat, I just used the ship headsets on the rare occasion I find myself in the jump seat. Good Luck in IOE!
