For those who previously had a class date, a questionnaire was sent out today to see if those individuals were still interested in a position at RPA. The questionnaire asked about military, 135, and 121 time.

It makes one wonder if they’re re-racking and stacking those that were in the cue. No other information beyond that.

I haven't heard anything on this, but, it would make sense, given the need for CAs, that they go after the folks who might be able to upgrade the fastest. In the schoolhouse yesterday, eerily quiet compared to what I'm used to seeing.

Classes wont be starting until July as of now. was just on a recuriting trip. only ones that could be hired before is if you have 500 hrs of upgradable time which is previous 121 time. other than that it will be Cadets, lift instructors then street hires is my understnading

I too received the questionnaire. As a military dude though, what benefit does that time have? They specifically wanted to know military aircraft flown and TPIC time, which I shared with them. To you guys who know more about the 121 world, does that stuff actually matter for what they are (potentially) evaluating? (class structuring, upgradable times, etc)

14 CFR 121.436 Explains the requirements to upgrade to captain under Part 121. You may be able to count 500 hours of military time towards upgrade which would make you eligible to upgrade after 500 hours. It’s possible they will prioritize training those eligible to upgrade sooner like the AA wholly owned are in an effort to create more captains in a shorter period of time.

I appreciate you pointing me to the pub. I looked it up (and for those other prior mil pilots who may be interested), it specifies the ability to use military PIC hours towards the 1000hr requirement. Up to 500hrs, like you mentioned.

"For the purpose of satisfying the flight hour requirement in paragraph (a)(3) of this section, a pilot may credit 500 hours of military flight time provided the flight time was obtained -

(1) As pilot in command in a multiengine, turbine-powered, fixed-wing airplane or powered-lift aircraft, or any combination thereof; and

(2) In an operation requiring more than one pilot."

Got the questionnaire and will fill it out but I'm going to try to go to gojet or commutair. Republic is obviously going to pass over any CFI/CFII/MEI no matter how many hours they have our when we were given our cjo's.

They knew this delay was coming and didn't warn us. One guy from my "class" already quit his job!

I'd be curious if they start only hiring R-ATPs now. Tons of applicants with both 1000 and 1500 hour qualifications that don't meet unrestricted criteria due to tt or xc time that would be stuck for 300-500 hours while the 1500TT/500XC folks can just bounce to ULCCs

Don’t see how that’ll help rpa. They’ll need an unrestricted atp before they can qualify to upgrade. They’ll basically qualify for in restricted atp and be eligible to go to a lcc well before being captain eligible. Adding more FOs just means they’ll worsen the fo to captain ratio they currently have. In fact FOs going to lcc helps them now only because it gets fos that aren’t flying off pay roll. If they had an FO shortage then you could make the argument for different tactics to prevent them from leaving.

I think this is insulting.
