Every time I answered a question he would go levels deeper until I had no idea what he was asking. Even referring to things no one in training had mentioned. Things not in any of the Manuals at all.

Don't just focus on what is suggested, the Bold and Italicized. Look at everything. If you can go through each button on the overhead panel and talk about what they do, what they mean, you should be in a pretty good spot.
my experience was similar last year. My KV was a little over 2 hours going deep into each system until my head was spinning. My sim partner was an hour but they talked about muscle cars for the first 30 minutes.

Know what every panel on the preflight slides are for. Know what every switch in the cockpit does when pressed. Know when you would press a switch (mostly when the qrh says to). Know how to manually calculate your landing speeds and apply corrections. Know every bold and italic ops limit and memory action cold.

This is correct. In addition, go over all the questions ar the end of the systems chapters and be able to answer them.

therr are gouges around- some on Quizlet but be sure to check the answers. Tell him to ask his classmates. People have the gouges, but they won’t give unless you ask. Find out who had the same CKA for the oral and ask them about it.

I think this is true because a KV should be a learning experience. Mine was like this. At some point you could see the examiner was okay with how I was doing and that relaxed me as probably passing, but, he just kept going. They have to dig into what you know, then find out what you don't so they can teach you a few more things about your airplane.

Thanks for all the responses on what’s covered in the oral. I’ll pass on to my friend.

Your friend should be asking those questions to his instructors. They know the guys giving the KV and very likely have a good idea of what to expect. If not, they have easy access.

Default Class Date Shifts

I received my CJO this week. However, I was told to expect a Class Date in November. Any chance that could get bumped up earlier due to no shows & cancellations? I don't need the ATP/CTP since I've had my ATP since before many of my classmates were born. Also could someone define the Alphabet Soup of Training Phase acronyms. Some make sense, some look made up. thanks. :-)

SV= systems validation (written test)
PV= procedures validation in flat panel trainer (flows, checklists and callouts)
KV= knowledge validation (oral systems test)
MV= maneuvers validation (in sim- v1 cuts, etc)
LOE= line oriented evaluation (checkride in sim)
IOE= initial operating experience (in aircraft with a check airman)

FPT= flat panel trainer
FMT= full motion trainer (sim)
SBT= special breakout training (extra training session)

hope that helps.

Maybe.. it depends more so on where the training is gonna take place. Heard a move might be happening in September/October and they want as many new classes in the new set up
