Anyone read the latest runway report merger update? I don't know if I should be concerned or what, but it seems like the company and union are not getting along well and that negotiations haven't even started because of this? Maybe I'm reading all this wrong.

Basically if the negotiations fail between our pilot groups then Republic and Mesa could remain as 2 separate operations. Both would be owned by Republic Airways Holdings. It'd be like the days of Republic, Shuttle, and Chautauqua operating separately under RAH.
This scenario would probably suck, because it'd give management the opportunity to pit the different operations against each other for flying, jets etc.

Neither side will ever see another stand alone contract and management will use one group to beat the other until a joint contract is eventually negotiated.

Them having two certificates just means when they whipsaw us, either way, the money stays in their pocket.
the industry is cyclical and repeats itself, learn the history and you’ll know the future.

yep.
AA management bought their concessions with a flow that was - for those on property - superior to the flow American Eagle (now Envoy) pilots had. They set it up so the entire MEC at PSA who never had any AA flow, if they took the concessions would flow to AA within a year, while many Eagle guys had been waiting over a decade. The PSA concessions broke a regional industry consolidation of every pilot group voting no on concessions…. Right up until PSA said yes.
AA even went into Eagle crew rooms telling Eagle FO’s to trade their Eagle ID for a PSA ID and they’d flow to AA in half the time. It worked, Eagle went from 3200 pilots to just over 1850 in less than a year… voting no on concessions the entire time, AA threatened to Comair Eagle and were actually doing it as opposed to just threatening. They made the same threat to Brown-Streak while actually growing them…. and their pilots caved, took the concessions, and flowed to AA years ahead of the Eagle guys,
smart career wise, but it was screw everybody else to get mine. Companies know pilots will do this eventually every time. That’s why they win.

if the two groups don't get on the same page Republic will do to Mesa what SkyWest did to ExpressJet. Republic will start to transfer Mesa's aircraft and desirable assets to the Republic Certificate, at the same time they will offer Mesa Pilots a chance to interview for jobs at Repubic and transfer over with longevity pay credit but enter at the bottom of the seniority list. Eventually the husk of the unwanted Mesa assets and the certificate will be sold to the highest bidder.
