More specifically, ORD is not yet open as a base. September will be the first month.

ORD for S5 is however still open

1. What are the family travel benefits like & when do they kick in? What carriers do they apply to (DAL, UAL, USA, etc)?

2. What is a typical reserve work week like in the E170/175?

3. How many days/nights are you actually where you are based in a typical week?

4. How is senoirity assigned per class? Age, date of checkride, etc?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

1. Depends on your base and certificate you get.
2. Can't answer was on reserve for two weeks, called once.
3. Im back in base every night except for trips.
4. Seniority is based on your age in your class.

5. I can honestly say I like it here, besides the pay but hopefully that will change soon. The people that you work with on a daily basis are very nice and helpful. I have heard horror stories though. I live in base and spent two weeks on reserve. There seems to be a lot of growth and upgrades recently.

1. Again. Depends on the certificate, airplane, and base. If you are Shuttle ORD 170 you get Delta and terrible United benefits. If you are Republic ORD 170 you get AA travel which if it's the same as Chautauqua it will be useless.

2. A typical schedule on reserve means you are on call for 12 hours a day 4-5 days a week. Because staffing is incredibly thin you will be flying and deadheading (a lot of double deadheads across the country) to fly 1 leg. They will own you until midnight on the last day of reserve. You can expect to break guarantee every month on reserve but you will be exhausted and maybe credit 80 hours. As a line holder the trips are nice on the 170... Mostly 2-3 legs a day. But they still haven't finalized trips for AA so who knows that ORD 170 for Republic will look like.

3. Trips for line holders range from 1 day to 4 days. ORD 170 Republic is new so no way to answer this.

4. Once again assigned by age in class.

5. I tolerate this place but I'm looking to get out ASAP. There are very few people happy here. Nonetheless most of the crews are great outside of CMH and IND. The outstation kings and queens hate the hub bases.

All "AMR Regional Affiliates" (Republic, ExpressJet and Skywest) board after all AMR employees and their D3 "Buddy" passes - REGARDLESS of equipment. That means that an Eagle ramper's buddy will bump a republic pilot's family off if it came to that, even if it was on a Republic 175. The exception would be the jumpseat. Also, "AMR Regional Affiliates" cannot get first class, again, even if on own metal. Also, USAir employees (including Peidmont and PSA) also have higher priority.

Which will make a tough commute (ORD) even tougher....and Republic ORD-based employees will most likely only have travel benefits on American and Frontier.

What I think is amusing is that everyone that works at rah is trying to tell everyone else what it's like to work here. But for whatever reason you don't believe them? Well I too am a rah pilot for almost a decade. And yes this place ****ing sucks.

I get a pretty descent line and ok trips as a captain. I make descent money not great but ok not close at all to break 100k like someone suggested. The reason this place sucks so bad is exactly what they are telling you. Reserve blows,if they tell you,you will get a 170 new hire chances are they will try to switch you into the Q maybe the 145 if you are lucky. Upper management all have split tongues. Have you heard of displacement bids? Well get used to it base closures are as frequent as your herpes flaring up! Oh and I shouldn't have to mention the contract situation I hope or the FO pay.

And before I hear all you dumb asses ask why I work here it's because I can't get out. I applied to everyone from CAL back in 2008 to UAL, us air, and for whatever reason I have not gotten any chances yet. But when that time comes you better believe I will bust down the door to get out.

If this is your only opportunity take the job you need to feed yourself and live but If other options are available I would seriously consider those before coming here and working.

One more disclaimer! I just posted from my phone while in bed just after my wife shut me down so all of the grammar nazis no need to post on what horrible spelling and punctuation I have. I simply don't give a ****.
