Ok, so pilots commuting/traveling don't have to pay, but family NRs will have to pay $20 to NR. Correct?
You almost have it. If you list on the UA Nonrev website, you will pay $20 per leg. If you show up and list for the jumpseat, no fee. Family pays $20 per leg domestically.

Would it be fair to say that there is some advantage to listing on UA's website as opposed to going directly to the gate?

Did you see my previous post about being 23rd of 25 non revs? If you go to the gate to JS, you'll be 25 out of 25.

That and you get to deal with the wonderful United Airlines gate agents. Some of them are so professional they won't refuse to list you for the Jumpseat, instead they will make a Nonrev listing for you which ends up costing you $20. You won't know until the professional folks in the RAH travel department take it out from your check 3 to 9 months later. We have had several crew members accumulate enough travel fees to get charged for it all at once and lose their entire check. Best part is the system UA and RAH use allows the crew members no way to keep track of the fees charged. You get to rely on the professionalism of both companies. For these reasons I never use my UA travel and I also try to not Jumpseat. I'm not paying $20 to go to work.

God bless.

I've never once paid on United. As long as they don't have my N number you WILL NOT get charged. A jumpseat listing at the gate will assure you of that. No assurance of getting on the flt though.

My advice...don't choose a regional airline based on the advertised or perceived partner travel benefits. You're certain to be disappointed, your boarding priority will be very low (usually behind retiree's stepchildren on vacation with their grandparents, this is NOT an exaggeration) and the entire agreement can and will be changed by the main line partner as they see fit.
