Nevermind - that wasn't nice. Glad everyone is apparently OK.

Except for one 757-300....I guess the mains stayed on the pavement with that one though.

He did not miss the EMAS, I think he was trying to make the left into the 31C pad.

Those tire tracks look like he went straight into the mud. Don't think there was any negotiating a turn. He had to have a good bit of speed to get that deep into the muck.

Of course the normal WN taxi speed is V1 at most carriers.....

Of course an idiotic comment like this wouldn't be made by a professional pilot at most carriers...

Don't think the taxi speed at WN is that much higher than everyone else these days, but it sure used to be. There's a reason the stereotype exists.

And there are still those who perpetuate it. I actually had a SWA guy in my jumpseat who gave me grief (at altitude) over taxiing too slow (15 knots). Actually said, and I quote, "there's no reason to taxi slow, it costs the airline money and there's less left over for the pilots!"

Mind you this is the same guy who talked about being one of the big proponents of age 65 at SWA...before we even left the gate. Shoulda left him there.

I guess I must taxi too fast as well. I never learned how to land at a walking pace.
