I'm sure Obama will handle this development with his usual firmness.

We aren't ones to talk. Re: Iran Air 655

But I agree, someone needs to capture and bring to justice all those involved in this shooting.

Well what I found was if you were watching the live stream it wasn't filtered but if you were watching with like a 10 second "behind live" point, it was filtered. Programming error i guess?
They also had the still images on their website and were tweeting them.

Don't go on liveleak. There are some things that can'be unseen. Photos from a distance are one thing but this is video up close.

This is one of those days where you just sit back and watch the world fall apart.

The President has no more inclination to do anything about it than you or I have the power to do anything about it.

So if you were POTUS, what exactly would you do, seeing how -- as far as anyone knows -- no US citizens were on board, it wasn't a US air carrier, it wasn't flying to or from the US and wasn't over US airspace?

Russia will wind up paying billions over this, and that will be all that really comes of it.

There is "some thing wrong" with this guy. His too orange level of people not like him is extremely low.

You're right, I don't have operational knowledge of how SAMs work. That doesn't mean that my opinion is wrong. A former military pilot on this thread admited that whether an explosion or fire is created on the targeted aircraft may or may not happen.

Now that that's been said, the US Government has just released that it has confirmed that the airplane was shot down by a surface to air missile.
I'm sure Malaysia disagrees on it being a hostile act, never said who they acted against, yes they've been commuting many warlike acts against the Ukranians, I'm sure Mexico would've said the same thing if we torpedoed a freighter of theirs during the Cuban missile crisis. The "attack path" excuse (legitimate or not) that we used against the Iranians won't work due whoever did this (most likely Russian forces) as they needed to track the target long enough to fire at it, that would have been more than enough time to see that a steady 480 knots at FL330 is not a military aircraft.

Let me say this too... Trying to sell sarcasm on a message board doesn't work that well since I have no way of knowing your intended tone. Reading it in a sarcastic light, I apologize for a few of the responses, but I will say that in flight breakup and MX glaring enough to cause this are all the least likely results, most crashes these days are a direct result of human intervention, I'm actually having a hard time of thinking of one which is not.
