From another engineer:
There was a shot of the tailcone, and where the horizontal stab-box once fit in it. A major portion of the right stab-box was in view.
Also quite easy to see was a vertical cut through the front beam of the box, and several inches in to the top and bottom plates.
If these were over-stress fractures, you would see telltale signs of pulling (fracture, where the metal gets thinner before it pops), or buckling. And the box would be bent.
None of that was evident. It looked like it was cut.
And, as FDXLAG implied, is how modern anti-aircraft missiles work. Expanding-rod warhead.
I think the Russians are carting off any major piece that might give evidence of the type of warhead mechanism the SA-11 has. When the Tu-154 was shot down by an SA-5 in the Ukraine several years ago, there was denial. The military was doing a live-fire SA-5 exercise at the time.
But when they found large ball-bearings peppering the wreckage, they knew. That was the kill mechanism for that missile.

It truly is an unfortunate tragedy & nothing probably will happen to the criminals who did it...
Only we can offer prayers for all aboard that flight...
RIP...
