Malaysia Flight 17 (777) shot down!

Lots of condemnations and expressions of concern, but no action.
Compared to the *****footing around, where nearly 300 civilian casualties somehow becomes acceptable, lack of any clear direction, and overall cynicism that we've reached I would welcome WWIII. People have never learned that the "peace at any price" approach has started more wars than it has stopped or prevented altogether.

Yes, I agree, those are some strange posts.
I'm assuming I'm older than most people here, but not sure. Does anybody remember the 1980's? There was this crazy country that misidentified an Iranian airliner and shot it down with a missile. Killed everybody on board. What is worse, the country refused to apologize afterward and thankfully it did not result in a nuclear war. There were those that desired "immediate action."

One thing that amazes me about this, apart from the horror of it, is the irresponsibility of Russia. Many of the so called rebels aren't even locals, and are ostensibly, well, Russian. These people are basically hell bent on destruction and they will shoot at anything with no clue of what it actually is (no centralized radar/ID)
How is sponsoring and funding these people any different than Middle Eastern countries whose governments sponsor terrorist groups?

Outside of theoretical diatribes, what is an appropriate manner to "deal with" the world's second biggest nuclear power? If you're willing to deal the first blow, are you okay with losing that arm?

No clue breeze master. Just venting. The time to drop the gloves has come and gone and the era of smack talk is alive and well.

I'm more angry at the Ukranian ATC for vectoring MH17 or allowing it to fly over an area where they lost 2 transports previously. War is war and the SAM operators most likely thought it was a Ukranian transport loaded with airborne troops about to parachute down and shoot them in the face.

I don't see how you can blame a controller for someone popping a plane that was much higher and faster than the other two.

Airborne troops don't get dropped from FL350 (unless they want to end up hypoxic and scattered across miles and miles.)
