Quote: Not exactly... Their pay and quality of life is just a little bid different... and they didnt cost any air france jobs.
What is their pay and how is their quality of life?
Quote: I talked to a rah driver the other day and he said people actually voluntered to fly the 190... how sad if this is true?? Saw an erj painted in midwest colors and laughed then almost threw up a little. its sad to see the death of a good product.
It's either bid or get displaced. Either way the aircraft are on their way, at least a couple, so if someone lives in MKE it would be better they get the spot than someone be displaced from their home in another base. Once they are here it doesn't matter who bids them.
Amazing
One of the most amazing thing I have noticed while participating in these forums is that the same complaining occurs consistently, and it is always managements fault. I don't remember hearing, not that it hasn't occurred, anyone with an idea of how to increase ridership on our airlines, make our product distinguishable so that people would be willing to pay more for it, or reduce the costs associated with the operations so that there will be additional money to spread around for crew compensation. In other industries, the people that are most highly compensated bring value to the company, product or service. What are we doing in that capacity?

i agree but airline pilots don't paid anymore whether they do more or not. also, its hard to do more and then have pilots under cut what you did.

You're joking, right?

Flying a pressurized piece of aluminum at 30+ thousand feet from one part of the country to another and sticking it on an enlarged parking lot. Doing so while taking into account aircraft performance, weather, pax comfort, situational awareness, and the readiness to take action when things go wrong.

So you're asking someone who makes $25k/yr to do the job of someone who makes $25mil/yr?

I believe that the "job responsibilities" you listed would probably be found in a CEO job posting.
Just so everyone on here knows what the real mentality of Republic employees are:

There was a Republic employee on my commute yesterday. I overheard the conversation between this individual and the flight attendant, and this individual couldn't help exclaiming "I can't wait till the 190's get here! They will be so nice! We are really moving up!"

No joke, this is how these people think. I would love to be there when the same bragging occurs in front of a furloughed Midwest employee.

These people? Oh boy, nothing like a good ol' generalization from one person to reflect on thousands of others.
This is how Republic will be its own airline one day. Bigger planes that we fly under our own brand. Hell, I never need to apply for another job, just stay here. Great!
