Quote: Why is long call a waste? Allows people that commute to reserve to sit at home until they are given an assignment. Seems like a pretty good deal for something that would cost the company almost nothing.

In theory, but I have actually sat long call here, and is was miserable. You are first out for everything, for any base, including CDO's. The company does not want you sitting at home unusable.

Can someone please explain Endeavor Air pilot's rigs? On Aero Crew News regional contract comparison they have y'all as having zero in this department. An accompanying example of a trip with the rigs included would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Quote: Ugh, I will be one of the first to get displaced from MSP and commute for the first time in 10 years. Absolutely dreading it. Probably be able to hold a 16-17 day off line in either of the New York bases though. That's what I am leaning towards at the moment. Is either one an easier commute? LGA has 7 flights, JFK has 4, ATL has 11...

Is that just Delta flights? Honestly, if I were going to commute big city to big city, I'd be looking at how many even playing field jumpseat opportunities I've got, versus DL where they can book the thing 3-5 days in advance.

We don't have trip rigging except on 5 day trips. Minimum 4 hour guarantee for every day you are on duty but they rig 5 days up to 25 hours if it doesn't pass it naturally.

From my understanding trip rigging is a mixed bag and not always as great as they sound. Someone with more experience in them can chime in with more perspective.

Friend of mine has some experience in contract negotiations and said that the problem with them is that a rig alone is typically only beneficial with short legs and long airport sits, and if it's a scheduled rig it doesn't kick in if you get extended. A good solid min day is typically better with the block or better model.

I have too (years ago). You are right that they would use you first but it was helpful to the guys who had to commute either way. They would essentially give all the open time to the long call people and use the short call people to cover sick calls. Again, costs the company almost nothing, helps the commuters, and helps the people sitting short call that don't want to work. Seems like a no brainier.

No trip or duty rigs. 4 hour min day.

When we let the bonus expire and go 6 months without it, we would've came out ahead with accepting the 83 hour proposal. I don't like anyone getting a pay cut on their W-2, but I'm ok with it if sick time, 401k and vacation see an improvement.

The company will never let the bonuses expire And if they do there will be a mass exodus and it will be very hard for them to hire pilots.

Ok thanks for your response. I'm looking at Endeavor as a potential employer once I'm fully certified and meet ATP mins. I have plenty of family in the New York area and a significant other living in Toronto Canada. So I like the idea of either operating a flight into Toronto on an overnight or if on a deadhead, being able to change it to a commercial deadhead home instead. Outside of open time pick ups, what are other ways one can increase pay.

A thought for those more knowledgeable than I am, given the difference in how egregiously the bonus we currently have in place is taxed vs actual hourly pay, would the proposed 83 hr credit rate to break even really be that big of a difference for someone who credits 75 consistently now with the bonus scheme in place?
