Quote: It absolutely is. You get flight benefits and pay. There's not another interview at any point. With the flow, American is hiring private pilots.

"Mentorship and promotional material" lol. You get up to $5,000 in tuition reimbursement. Great, but not salary.

Do you have a crew badge that says PSA Airlines? Do you get first year FO pay? Are you in the union? Are you in CASS??

Sounds like you aren't an employee. Reminds me of the guys I work with who think they work for American Airlines. Again, does your badge say AA?

The point is that the "hire" takes place at the private pilot level and as long as you don't bend an airplane or do something colossally stupid you're going to be an American pilot. They'll tell you in the cadet interview that they're hiring for American. The only chance they have to get rid of you is during your probationary periods.

I don't work an an American WO, I'm just pointing out that similar programs exist already and Delta is just taking it one step further. I don't know why anyone is surprised Delta treats Endeavor the way they do, look at Comair. Delta is ruthlessly brilliant at business. If you're dealing with them, they're going to come out ahead.

It doesn't matter where the "hire" actually takes place. If you meet ENY/PSA/PDT mins and get hired there, when your number comes you go to AA. You could have gone through a school, part 61, cadet program anything and still have the same job at American in however long it takes. I could apply at ENY/PSA/PDT tomorrow and be at AA in 8 years. Fine they say they'll give you a job when you get a ppl and pay for your training you still don't become an employee till you successfully complete everything. Meanwhile looks like at EDV someone like myself will be stuck here for years as a CA once I upgrade in a few months and end up with FOs Delta hired directly into Delta and will get to skip right ahead of everyone already here. If they do this, the DGI will be ended or just become a formality for them to tell you NO, since they'll already have a pipeline of Delta pilots. And they gave us our pay rates because they know they'll need to keep EDV staffed with senior guys while they cycle people through. AA is treating everyone fairly, DL is not. But as you said, that's been how they've behaved historically. They're gonna screw their regional pilots one way or another just because they can.

Does anyone think this Delta flow deal is their attempt to avoid having to hire some of the regional pilots that they deem to not be "Delta material?"

I heard a few senior Regional Captains have been told in interviews that they have "too many" Regional hours to be considered for the Majors.

Colloquially referred to as the "10,000 hour kiss of death"

Employers wonder why you never moved on. Usually it isn't a good thing since the regionals are generally looked at as a stepping stone. If you stay for a really long time, people start to think theres some reason no one has picked you up

Maybe the reason was 9/11? Maybe it was 2008? Maybe it was the fact that people got laid off? Not everyone gets to travel the golden road to the majors.

Yeah but they can afford to filter out applications however they want. Usually what's "fair" isn't taken into consideration.
