Quote: Well. In this market, when you push back 6months and nothing is in writing about more aircraft coming, thats not an option. The iron is still hot, strike! Sitting around for 6 (likely more) months isn't an option if i had hiring mins.

It's a judgement call. Hes in a position he wouldnt get an early call. The people in the feb or March class who will get pushed back and accept will get a call early because everyone in front of them is gainfully employed and won't leave their line holding job at skywest for a turn on reserve in nyc. Thats assuming history repeats itself.

Maybe it doesn't fit the black and white definition for you, but when the consumer decides your product is valueless it doesnt matter that it "technically" has some value to someone. As EDV HR has learned many times now, filling classes is an art, not science.
Did you actually read his posts? He is already at another regional and just put his application out there thinking of going somewhere else. All I said was that deciding with the delay to preemptively refuse the class is not "keeping options open."

I have since called PSA and took the job offer I had from them. I’m not gonna wait til September. Working as a CFI for another 9months Is a punishment I don’t deserve. I start December 30

Quote: Apparently not.
I've got offers elsewhere...so i'm keeping my options open like I said, because I said no to one doesn't mean there aren't more lined up. Serious bunch over here.

Quote: Curious as to how 9e chose the applicants to push back.

Of the folks pushed back how many applicants are restricted atp.

Feel free to drop a reply.
From what I can tell, it has to do with whether or not you have a 4-year degree. Not so much if you’re restricted or not. It has nothing to do with needing ATP-CTP, there are classes scheduled through September.

Myself and another recruit, who was parting from the Air Force, both have a masters degree and we’re both delayed. Neither of our degrees are aviation related so maybe that’s it - IDK

I don’t think the degree is an issue. What might be more of an issue would be X-military with the threat of just being here a short time? And thank you for your service

Definitely not anything to do with your pedigree. We're staffed on the plump side right now, the few we do bring in have likely been in queue for a while. If you can hold out a few more months, you'll be glad you did.

That said, your service to our country is greatly appreciated. Thanks to your sacrifice, you guys allow us slackers to b!tch and moan on here without repercussion, and for that, I salute you. Happy holidays, sir!

I would agree with VOR... say “Thank You for letting me know, when you have a class with room let me know.” In the mean time continue to pursue other opportunities and don’t put your career on hold for a class in 10 months. With all this doom and gloom, I’d point out that significantly slowed down hiring last March- telling people they wouldnt have openings til 2019. Then in the fall they accelerated hiring for a few minutes this unexpectedly. This company just does what DL says, so our “plans” have a tendency to change unexpectedly.

Doom and gloom????

No push, as many days off as you can reasonably bid/drop?? Yes movement stagnated, that sucks, i see no doom and gloom.

If you want NYC or DTW or ATL as an FO and don't mind 12 days off on reserve for a while come on down. Otherwise go elsewhere.

Theres no doom, just pilots on this webboard finding out what airlines are really like, and why most people are on plan G or M

I start in May. Any chance to know if ATL will still be available?
