Quote: The first half of the panel interview will be going over your application. They will pick out a couple of things and challenges you on them. The key is to not get defensive, but rather answer honestly and matter of factly. No matter how thorough you were, they'll find something. Maybe it's better to give them some low hanging fruit. I know quite a few pilots who got turned down, and the first question I ask them is how they handled the application confrontations. Most of them say they got irritated and defensive, but didn't even realize it until later because of the stress of the situation. Watch for that.
This is golden and I can completely see it happening when someone is under the stress of the situation at hand.

Quote: Got the TBNT this morning after completing the assessment over the weekend. Super depressing blow as I, like many others on here, felt things went well on it. Practiced the cog games using RST and CUT-E, and tried to stay fairly neutral and consistent on the personality test. Maybe in 6 months things will go better if I get the invite again, but it’s still a gut punch after 3 years of updating the app monthly. This thread has been super helpful though to read others experiences. Best of luck to all.
I'm not an expert about the psych, but I wouldn't think neutral is exactly "the key." Being honest and consistent I think are more important. I think saying "meh" to basically everything is a good way to trigger a "he's trying to game the psych" part of the exam.

You’re not alone. I did everything you did as well and got the TBNT after the assessment.

I received the TBNT 6 months ago as well. It was a giant shock to me. I have no clue what went wrong, but I suspect the personality test. Either that or I just suck at simple sudoku. I've been counting down the days until I can do the assessment again. My app can be reviewed again tomorrow and I'm hopeful that the second time around is a charm.

For anyone reading this, the objective should not be to appear "neutral." Answer honestly, which will lead to consistency. That is what you want. Do not overthink the psych portion.

Agree with the previous responders, being overtly neutral isn’t a great idea. Do some research on “impression management”. For example, if the question asks “Have you ever told a lie”, do not answer NO as it’s an IM red flag. I busted the Hogan with UAL without any prep. I recommend reading about IM and how to avoid flagging yourself as a righteous dude with no vices. It can be fixed, good luck.

Just answer honestly. I didn't do any prep, practice or research on the assessment and got the interview invite. Just be you.

Tried this and got the TBNT. Thought I did pretty well on other parts of the assessment. There's no rhyme or reason. Almost at 6 months so here's hoping. Good luck to all that retake it. Fingers crossed those apps that got the TBNT after the assessment will be pulled again.

Somehow I passed. Wasn't feeling too great about the work based behavior part.

I noticed some trends/themes. Hopefully, this helps some folks. Just my opinion and I could be wrong. I went in 100 percent honest. I was nervous to get caught contradicting myself in follow on questions if I answered 'what I think the company would want.' I went into it with this mindset. Currently, I am a little burnt out from a mil career, so i just want to sit in the right seat, love to fly, don't mind getting coffee and putting the gear up, and learn about this type of flying since it's new to me. No desire at this time to upgrade or anything. I know EC says the company is hiring you to be a captain one day, but that is far far far rocks for me.

Some trends I perceived:

1. team player or individual: Seemed they had a lot of these ones. For example: I thrive in a team environment vs. I feel I can do things better than most people. I selected agree to the second statement. "Thrive" was a little too over the top for me. I felt they want you to select that.

2. Leader or complacent: Questions along the lines of "would this person step up and be a leader." As I said, I am burnt out... So questions that were "I will step up to a leadership role if no-one is doing it vs. I rather just do things I am good at" I agree with second statement.

3. change vs no change: Not sure what they are getting at with these. Checklist / procedures or culture and people. I did a lot of slightly agree on these. "I prefer doing things in order vs. sometime change is a good thing and is necessary. I was probably least consistent on these and let out a few WTFs. I was trying to decipher of it was culture or operations on these ones.

Odds and ends:
-I did not select strongly agree once.
-I had several agree on tough ones (thought I F'd myself doing that)
-I did not do the add "At work" to the end of the statement technique like i heard a lot of guys do
-I prepared way too much for the cog part. (don't waste time on the CUT-E personality test) nothing like the actual

I hope this helps some folks. Good luck.
