I've heard of some non RFP used planes in the works, but nothing about an expanded RFP.

Now this is a Latest and Greatest post I think we all enjoy seeing.
Quote: There are a lot of limitations with your ignore suggestion, 88 Driver, but it may be worth a shot.
I would encourage you to do that... especially since your mind was obviously closed to what I have to say a long time ago.

Quote: Some posters have a template through which they try to force every current topic. There are two things or three things they say, over and over again. They view any and all conversation as an excuse to broadcast those things. Having exchanges with them is futile, because nothing you could possibly say will make them change their mind: their ONLY purpose here is to see their view prevail.
My main purpose in being here is to try to get others to do some critical thinking about what they're being told by DALPA (which I obviously think is wrong). I think we as a pilot group are being manipulated into accepting a lower value for our profession when that lower value is not necessary. I realize I'm never going to change your mind, but hopefully there are others who are more open minded and have greater respect for the value of what we do. If I've reached a few people with my message then it's been worth it.

Quote: When they're hijacking a thread as completely as you and a few handful of others, then possibly the ignore function MIGHT work. It's not as good as, say, having you refrain from continuously preaching to the "idiots" that disagree with you, but since this is where you and some of the others have taken the L&G... why not try?
So who gets to determine whether someone is "hijacking" a thread? Sounds like maybe you're just uncomfortable with certain messages.

And I'm not going to let you get away with characterizing me as someone who calls everybody who disagrees with me an "idiot." That is far, far from the way I have handled myself here. Alfa brought up the reference to "idiot" and I responded with what I thought. I do think his ideas are idiotic. Show me where I've said that about anyone else.
I searched this thread. Couldn't find what I was looking for but I'm sure it's been addressed.

I've got a buddy that just got hired. Guys in his class were comparing hotels for rates/availability during their initial training. I thought we fixed that in the last contract. Doesn't the company pay for initial training lodging? The way I read the contract it says they do (Sect 5, E, 1, a, 1). That said, the New Hire Pilot Guide (dated May 2014) says they are on their own. Which is it?

Of course, hoserpilot, the problem with the sweet sugar of aircraft rumors isn't a meaningful substitute for actual compensation, but then again, someone started a thread ostensibly dedicated to discussing concepts in adequate compensation.

So there is that. And maybe here, a good-natured rumor, humor and underboob emporium.

I've flown with several new hires lately. If I understood correctly, the company pays for a hotel room during the indoc portion of their training and then they are on their own for simulator.

I know the company pays for lodging during Indoc....he's there now, and I know we used to require pilots to pay for their own lodging during initial training. That said, I'm almost positive I remember our most recent contract requiring the company to pay for initial training lodging as well. Hmmm

Could very well be. I'm just going on what I think was said a couple of weeks ago during a brief conversation about it. I could have misunderstood. I'll bet somebody here knows the exact correct answer.
PWA and LOAs
I'm sitting reserves for the first time since NWA (2001) and looking for the best location to find PWA, LOAs and possible gouge related to reserves. Can someone post a link or give a vector. I did a quick search on DeltaNet and the SD memo popped to the top.

The answer I get from my reps is a resounding yes.

I don't agree for a minute that that's what happened last time.

flyallnite is asking if we are at least planning to ask for something more significant in C2015 than what we asked for in C2012. You answer that your reps have indicated a "resounding yes."

Then flyallnite asks if if DALPA is just going to "phone this one in too" like they did with C2012. You answer that you don't agree for a minute that that's what happened in C2012.

So... I don't see how you can have it both ways, Alan. You indicate that you and your reps expect a significantly better performance with C2015, but then you indicate you think they did just fine with C2012, which implies no improvement needed.
Got it. Here's how I meant it:

I do believe that our reps fully intend to ask for significant improvements to our compensation, far greater than were achieved in C2012. I believe they will succeed because the economy, Delta's profitability, and the industry are all significantly better than they were in 2012.

That said, I do not believe that our reps "phoned in" their negotiations for C2012, nor do I agree that our raises were tiny or paid for by onerous concessions. As I understand it, our raise was to the tune of $400M net per year over three years (or about 20%) and was mostly but not fully paid for by the RJ deal. While I am not a fan of allowing more 76-seat jets by any means, I believe that the hard overall caps on DCI that were part of that deal made the whole thing palatable.

Bottom line -- I believe that our reps did well in C2012 given the circumstances then and will do significantly better in C2015 due to significantly better circumstances today.

According to the Contract Comparison that just came out, Delta pays for newhire hotel only for the first two weeks of training.
