Quote: thanks. yes i can stand reserve from home for all NYC bases. I've been at American for a couple years but am wondering if an offer from Delta would be a "tweener" or a no brainer.
if that’s the case then our NYC base would probably work ok for you. But the seniority/longevity would be something you would have to decide for yourself if it is worth it.
Yeah thanks.

I hear a lot of good things from Delta pilots. I think it’s just a different culture of “this is cool, I like it here, let’s get the job done.” And the caricature at AAL is complaining, skeptical of management, and protecting old scars from less than optimal mergers. I think in reality they’re a lot closer to the same thing than people generally pick up. So, not sure if it would be worth the jump to Delta. But it may be.
Is it normal for 717 ALV to be around 80? Saw it around there in October as well. Noticed the ER ALV dropped down to 72 next month (heard that it drops in winter)

This management team (at Delta) is making numerous moves to turn the goodwill of the pilot group into a smoldering heap of ashes. Starting with the optimizer that has just trashed our rotations, JV scope issues, "what's a SIL", the UNA debacle, etc, etc. This is still a good place to work, but the whole "Delta Family" and "Rules of the Road" is just a charade. This is a fortune 500 company, and we are employees. That's not a bad thing, but that's just how it is. And there are lots of people in the company who are really trying to work for the betterment of other employees, but they're limited by senior management who is ultimately steering the ship.

That said I still feel we have a better culture than AA. Is that a major reason to leave there? Probably not, but to each their own.
Quote: Considering using my APD to drop a 5 day trip. The only day I really need off is day 3 so I just wanted to check with the forum contract ninjas out there on something. If drop an APD on day 3 only the whole trip will drop and I can try to pick up WS on days 1&2 and 4&5 - does that sound correct?

Thanks Scoop
My understanding is that APD works just like PD. You can fly over any APD day, yes? Or does APD work like an IVD which is a vacation day that you cannot fly over?

You cannot fly over an APD. Just use your APD on one single day of a trip you definitely want off and you can WS/GS/YS on the other days of the trip that was dropped.

No. You cannot pick up over an APD day like you can a PD day.

Thanks, good to know!

Buy also remember that even if you use the APD for just one day of a trip the whole trip drops and you CAN pick up on the other days that weren’t covered by the APD.

I'd say Managment has cut down many trees over the past 2 years for reasons stated above... I have my lighter ready to start the fire when the time is right. Unless you live in a Delta base and won't commute I wouldn't make the jump. The grass isn't that green
