Quote: I recently completed a phone interview with Omni Air International.

The interviewer was the same HR specialist who I had already been corresponding with via email.

- Asked what I know about Omni
- Asked why I was interested in Omni.
- Asked for 5 words that describe me. Allowed to expand on the words a little.
- Given opportunity to ask 3 questions. I hinted that I had a lot more questions that I could ask, but she did not offer for me to ask more.
- Given feedback immediately that I would be passed on to the Ops Dept. and would be contacted soon for the next step in the process.

Hope this helps you.
The days pilots recommend pilots are over. HR passes on to operations those who play their hiring game these days. The keeper of the gate would rather hire an unknown factor that makes them tingle inside than a known, recommended, non college experienced airplane driver with time in type or operation. As far as the new world hiring order thinks..."An intern could do that job" Sorry to vent on the soapbox, but HR at Omni has ignored some very qualified pilot recommendations. It would be nice if Operations did the pilot selection for interviews and then HR...

Good luck with the rest of the interview process friend.

Thanks HeavyDriver. Are you at Omni?
So far, no complaints. For what it's worth, I got my foot in the door via a pilot rec.

He's at Omni and a great captain to fly with. Has been around for a while so his comments are warranted.

Latest rumor on the training front. I understand the last class did not do so well. No reason to give stats, if what I hear is true it would be a little embarrassing. No speculation on the reason, who's fault it is, just want the new hires to know.

Haven't your heard, it's the students fault according to Training Director. It's all self-study, no effective training.

Nothing wrong with giving stats. Just no names.

First of all Orville, check your English or your typing which ever you have the most problem with.
Then ask yourself did I or do I have any direct knowledge of the circumstances involved with the last class, and when you answer no to both then tell yourself to shut up.

obob866 did I touch a nerve?
Sounds like you might have direct knowledge so please explain the poor training results, and not just the last class.

Orville,

Are you bored or did you fail out of training with Omni because it seems as if you have an axe to grind with Omni. I'm not sure if you're trying to "feel" the company out for employment but your post seem a bit jaded.

I ask the employment deal because of a NetJets post you made:

"I've applied a couple times with NJTs, 7000tt, 2300 jet , >1000 jet pic, but never selected for interview. Wondering if because I'm retired government they think I'm too old, mid 50s"

Whatever your situation best of luck in the future

Most airlines are now self study, like I said before out of 4 airlines and 7 ground schools, Omni was by far the easiest of them all. So, yea it is the students fault if he/she failed.
