We could resolve the SLI this way!!!! I imagine alot of guys on both sides would hit the gym!!!!

As seen in "Over the Top"

The "Cult of Herb" is awesome!!!
Note: for guys who will take this out of context; this is a joke.
As for the Delta guys they may enjoy throwing some fuel on the fire but at least they have been making it all a bit more light-hearted
Good Luck to us all and lets move forward.

There is value in seniority, but there is also value in things other than seniority.
Anybody else see the irony here?

Quote: My source is my Merger Committee and direct communication with my reps. Is that sufficient for you?

Here are some highlights of SWA management's SLI proposal:

-Almost all AAI F/Os stapled
-AAI Cptns lose between 27-40% relative seniority on the newly combined seniority list with the junior Cptns taking the hardest hit.

There were other little "gems" in the proposal too, but I think that the above mentioned stats should be sufficient to explain why we're rather insulted to say the least.

Not feeling the LUV.......
Feel a little silly now?

Quote: Those are the numbers I've heard. Draw a 300 mile circle around ATL and look at the cachement area.

No scenario discussed has a single SWA pilot's CA seat in danger. Not one SWA guy would be bumped from lineholder to reserve. Why do you guys keep screaming like someone's trying to take something from you? It's a little ridiculous.
Agreed 100%.

Quote: Gentlemen, this will go nowhere until both parties know what is actually in the deal. At that point, our Delta friends will be free to criticize it all they want to.

I am sure that they have the best interests of both parties at heart. What they really fear is having to explain to their friends and neighbors in PeachTree city that they have lower pay and worse work rules than the AirTran guy that just bought the house across the street. Hell, the AirTran guy might even act like he is in charge of the hotel van.

I can't wait to hear the cries for justice from the same Delta guys who called AirTran a junk airline only 6 months ago.

With that, I'm done...for now. Peace out.
Also agreed 100%

Quote: It seems you have a tough time understanding what relative seniority is. No one loses seniority and upgrade time... not doing relative in this merger would be stealing seniority and upgrade time.
Having just come through the closest thing the industry has ever seen to a true "merger of equals" with ALPA vs. ALPA representation to boot, I'm sure you and most fDAL or fNWA pilots see no problem with relative seniority. What you seem to have a tough time understanding is that in the case of SWA-ATN, the demographics are very lopsided. Relative seniority would have a BIG affect on upgrade time when the average age of one pilot group is eight years younger than the other (guess which). Relative seniority would have a ten year SWA FO swinging gear for a six-year ATN captain. Maybe you and ALPA would be down with that, but SWA pilots most certainly would not. We stand to gain nothing from this acquisition except entry into the ATL, and the only tangible benefit most of us will realize from that is maybe another percent or two in our annual profit sharing check.

How about this Smokey? Hire a math major to figure out for you what the average age looks like after the top 900 or so of your pilots are excluded---and you know why.

Also, tell the assembly how much growth you've experienced over the last five years. About the same for both teams, I'd suppose.

You are about to have a great AND growing airline so stop the whining. It's unbecoming of a millionaire.

Well hey, if you're willing to exclude the top 900 SWA pilots, then you and I have nothing to disagree about. Now, if you can put your inferiority complex aside for a few moments and reread my post, you'd realize my intent was to educate 80ktsClamp about how his hypothetical scenario of STRAIGHT relative seniority would have a very detrimental effect on upgrades for current SWA pilots.

Correction: We're both about to have a great and growing airline (without even having to visit arbitration, from the sounds of it). As for the millionaire thingy, I'm not quite there yet, but thanks for the compliment.
