AT/SWA SLI Question
#91
Actually Pax, I completely disagree. DAL management, along with pilots from two legacies, pulled off the near perfect merger in near record time. We blended two very different and distinct companies and cultures into the world's largest air carrier. Our SLI was not without concern or complaint but was arbitrated, installed, and less than two years later we're a completely merged team. I would think that DAL is the gold standard for mergers in the future. What SWA and AT are attempting to pull off is admirable but, in reality, pales in comparison to what DAL and NWA successfully completed. Truth is, SWA and AT still have much to accomplish in their merger. Truth is, we already have.
All that aside, the merger was done smoothly and quickly. It was a job well done, indeed.

I couldn't care less about SWA. This thread is just a source of entertainment. I find 1 seat's comments ironic in that he wants the ATI guys to roll over because they are getting a pay raise.. and surrender their seniority.. yet in the same breath he says that seniority isn't important. OK... put up or shut up then.. tell 1 seat to give up HIS seniority... oh... couldn't possibly do THAT...
You know you LUV SWA! You lurk and jab at just the right time to stir things up. We all know you find this to be entertainment, but you REALLY LUV SWA! Your interest is just too obvious. Then again there is that thread with 71 thousand + replies which everyone knows is the bomb! You have how many posts in 3 1/2 years? I am just saying.

Just one example of the difference between Delta management and SWA management.

Well let's see...my first guess would be the fact that Delta pilots took a massive hit in bankruptcy to SAVE THE AIRLINE FROM LIQUIDATION. Now that Delta is back to being HIGHLY PROFITABLE, Delta management says to the pilots: "A contract is a contract!"

When has SWAPA asked for mid-term contract improvements?
Has SWA, Inc. agreed to change the CBA outside of Section 6 of the RLA, or have they made the pilots wait for the amendable date?
Does LOA 29 qualify as "A contract is a contract."?
I look forward to an unemotional, fact based response.

Seriously?
Look at the two airlines and tell me which one REALLY cares about their employees, and which one just sees them as a necessary evil.
This is a no-brainer. If you need another hint, which company has the highest number of happy employees? This includes gate agents, rampers, and F/As.

Shiznit,
2001, talks were put on hold and the pay package was reduced due to 9/11. I can't remember when the contract was set to expire, but the pay increases were early due to a SWAPA request.
As far as the AIP rumors.....the offer must have been good enough that the Airtran NC bought into it. I doubt they are idiots (AT NC)!

Shiznit,
In 2001-2002 timeframe (yep through and after 9/11), SWA and SWAPA met to conclude interest based negotiations not required by section 6.
The results of those negotiations were:
Has SWA, Inc. agreed to change the CBA outside of Section 6 of the RLA, or have they made the pilots wait for the amendable date?
The results of those negotiations were:
- Approx 40% pay raise over 5 years ($124/tfp to $173/tfp)
- Industry Leading Scheduling Rigs
- New hires into the 401k plan a year early
- Early retirement Medical + Spouse
- Supplemental Plan C free of charge
- Retirement Medical
- Increased LOL from $6,500 to $9,500
- Workday targets corralled
- Wife gets accrued sick leave
- All income included calculation for 401k company contribution
- 401a17 plan
- Two large Stock Option Plans
