I have been notified that my flight check is scheduled in Dallas at the end of this month. Anyone have any advice or information? Feel free to PM me. (I have not received my packet yet.)

Sept 29th checkride in 737 sim. Think the sim is still in Denver for the CMO side, dunno yet.

Rhino, which FSDO are you going to?

I've also heard some offices with referral lists have been put in a holding pattern not to interview or hire yet... hope this isn't true but it might be.

Hey guys, I finally got the call to interview last week. A few days before the call my wife and I find out she's pregnant. She is not wanting to move now and I had to tell the lady on the phone that I would like to wait and hopefully get referred to the city I live in now. Did I totally screw myself for getting another call? If only I got the call a week earlier!!

JA2C-

First off, CONGRATS!! Exciting news indeed on the new family member...

You have many options:

1. Interview as scheduled. If selected, you can decline the job offer. Other offices can use (you can get credit for) the previous interview so you may not have to repeat the interview again for another office.

2. Decline the interview and go back in the "pool". Gather intel. Call the local office manager and express interest. Ask if they intend to hire anyone soon. Sept is the end of the fiscal year and is the "active" month for hiring. Then wait it out..

3. Revise your online app to narrow your locations to only the office(s) closest to your home.

4. Take the "bird in the hand" and pursue the interview and job offer if it comes. Get your foot in the door. Once you are "in", you can eventually transfer to another office after you put in some time there (at least a year). "Cooperate and Graduate" the first year, since you would be on probation.

Gubment hiring is fickle. Some get hired quickly when others have a long wait. Took me FIVE years to get hired. Mainly luck and timing.... A little patience and persistence (networking) may pay great dividends...

I was referred and offered an interview to all three locations I put on the application. The last one came the Friday before my official start date about a week after I accepted my offer.

Just confirmed with FSDO manager at another office I've been referred to that they are indeed in the holding pattern to hire.... don't know why or what this means, but they said they would like to hire me based on my app and interview notes but cannot until or IF they finally get the green light to hire. Don't know if this is normal but I'm hoping they get the green light before Sept 30th.

Thanks for that bit of information hattrick.
Does anyone know what happens after Sept 30th?
Do we just go into FY16? Or does the process start over for us in que?
I have been referred to four positions same FSDO
interviewed late Aug.
Sorry if that's been covered here.
Indeed a mysterious process
Thanks for any info.
