From what little I know they are both the industry leaders in this field and soon no one will be able to touch either of them. All one has to do is pick up Avation Week and read it and its easy to see. Additionally they are great because they take care of people; much more so than uncle sam. Thats why I would love to be part of either organization. I don't think anyone in their right mind will disagree.
Now back to my post earlier, my complaint is not with the Fedex as a company but the way they hire pilots. As my memory recalls Fecav8r, you even started a post not too long ago talking about how to improve the process! A lot of your fellow pilots agree with me as well, Fedex's hiring way of doing business sucks! Getting a job with them should not be like applying to a flying club! Maybe thats why there CP is ****ed and puts out letters to be more professional, maybe that also explains why they have more than their share of accidents! Right now they can pick and choose but soon they won't have that luxury. A company; any company should be worried about hiring the most talented, hard working, best qualified individuals not who knows who, it shouldn't be a popularity contest. I hate to have to cold call people I haven't seen in years and butter them up just so I can get a on-line rec. Thats just not me I don't want to do that but I have to feed my family so I guess I have too if thats the way its going to be.
I really don't want to start another thread here or a war of words with anyone about these issues and problems, but I am just telling you from a objective standpoint I don't think thats the right way of hiring folks. The process should be revamped. I am naive remember and I don't know much so please educate me and don't put words into my mouth. If you take the time a teach me stuff maybe I won't be not so stupid. Please be constructive thats all I ask and help me bring food to the table.
Hey Shaggy, Sorry if you think I was a bit fast, thus the direction to slow down. Let me refresh your memory and see if I got this right.

That's what you said, right? I mean I didn't put words in your mouth. Yeah, I started a thread asking how to improve the process. I didn't say the process sucked, just that it needed some tweaking and refining. And I sure didn't say anything about the hiring process being the reason we have had our recent issues with accidents. You did that.
Now, here's another of your quotes...
any company should be worried about hiring the most talented, hard working, best qualified individuals not who knows who, it shouldn't be a popularity contest You really think the people we hire aren't? Just because you don't have someone you know who is willing to put their name and reputation on the line you think you're more qualified. Now, tell me what you think makes up this mythical aviator you call "the most qualified." Would you rather we take our chances at the 11000+ resumes we have on file and sort them by total hours. With your 3000+ you wouldn't even have a chance. How about your 135 time. Nope, still not competitive. See my point? If you don't get one of your buds to walk your resume in, you aren't even in the ball game. Still think our process sucks? Well, when you get hired here you can work to change it.
