Not ALPA's stance
Quote: I'm lazy...

Plus, every RSA and VDA on the list is another RSV that isn't on the list which is back fill behind you that needs to be there to support the operation. VDA is lost seniority.
I understand 1st yr pay and the fact that it's easier to justify in my position. I just think that if we all held tough for a year no VDA no RSA, it'd force a restructure of the staffing model. the contract will do that anyways, but self support, supports the NC.

I talked about this at the union meeting and talked to the reps. There is nothing wrong with flying the line and the FSM. I don't know why pilots are thinking this way? This is your opinion which is fine but lacks any credibility or truth. Not sure why some pilots have this thought process and not of what we actually have in the FSM already?

I'm just trying to clarify. Another reason It's important to stay involved and go to meetings . I hope this helps

Quote: 2000 bucks- is that before taxes and including Per Diem?

No per diem during training. $26 a day, use-it-or-lose-it money in their cafeteria. Which brings me to this question: what can I write off as per diem difference on my taxes? Anyone know?

Meals and incidentals is 59 according to the guberment but as always ask your tax advisor. Dunno if that 26 allowance would count as per diem or not.

You will be able to eat 3 squares and have plenty of snacks, candy bars, and gatorades in your room and drawers

On first year reserve your per diem is not likely to be that much (at least in my case it wasn't, especially with day trips and sitting.) So when it came to taxes I opted not to pay for the FLICA accounting. It would have been a wash for me. Wasn't worth the hassle in my personal case. Second year? There's probably a benefit but not a windfall. In the realm of most creative tax methods, I flew with one captain that started a "church" so that he could shield his income from taxes. Amen, I guess?

Still prefer the Staybridge with a full kitchen. I purchased raw ingredients on Day 1, cooked 6 weeks worth of food and tossed it in the freezer. About $400 out of pocket. We got the $2500 a month last year, so I came out a little ahead.

That's what I'm thinking until I hold a line or start flying a little more on reserve.
