Quote: What happens if that phone never rings? You have to plan worse case scenario beyond 5-10 years. If you're young you could be waiting 10-20 or even 30 years at your regional for a legacy call that may never come. By that time you could be whipsawed and reset back to $25/hr in the regionals.
Valid point. And honestly that's probably the reason a lot of people go to spirit or jb etc. The math is different if your Jr. at a regional and 25 vs. a senior guy at 45. No way does the math make sense for a 45 year old making $125k at a regional coming to sit right seat in a bus for $75. It would take almost a decade to get even. In my opinion it would be worth the gamble to wait for the call. If your regional flew a bus this is exactly how it would pay.

If you like to be ****ted on during your wait, then have at it.

Definitely won't take a decade. I'm hopeful we'll have a contract by then, lol. First year is horrendous but by 3rd year you can break 100K. Im hopefully you'll be able to break it second year pay come a new contract. Also Spirits business model is a much more viable option long term compared to an RJ job (IMO) anyway. Of course if you genuinely can't swing $40/hr first year it's completely understandable

Only someone who's never done the regional thing or worked at a sh!!bag outfit would say this. It may be hard for someone to believe that a regional could be better. Senior at good regional means $150-175k and 16 days off without having to watch open time on your days off.
I'm not knocking spirit. I am saying you guys are a lot closer to us than you are to delta.

I'm not backing up the spirit contact because it is horrendous pay wise. however if you aren't a full time training department pilot there is no way you are making $150-175k with 16 day off at any regional in the country. Even if you were in the training department you would still be watching open time to work doubles occasionally to make that money. You are just wrong.

I'm sorry man but I flew for a good regional (XJT) and I don't know any line CA's that make what your saying with 16 days off. Guys in the training center could pull that but line pilots couldn't. You're In a fantasy land, and that's fine. Just please stay there and enjoy that amazing QOL and pay you have while others leapfrog you

Clearly you never worked at a regional if you think $150k is the norm, lol

Ok. Perhaps it's an exagartion. But guys at my seniority have been well north of $100/yr for years now. And I'm not measuring johnsons. I was trying to illustrate the need to (as said earlier) wake up and realize Spirit doesn't have any new orders suggesting and upgrade or a FO pay scale worth leaving a RJ captain spot for.

Big difference between $175k with 16 days off and $100k and 12 days off. That wasn't an exaggeration, it was a lie

You can't come onto this thread, drastically exaggerate the size of your johnson, and then pretend as though you are not measuring johnsons. For somebody who doesn't appear to be very interested in working for Spirit, you sure seem to be pretty concerned with our pay rates.
